Agreed, something isn't right and with that amount of obvious sound the source shouldn't be too difficult to locate. With someone rocking the vehicle have you tried to feel for movement in the various bushes, swivel pins etc etc? It's also worth using a longish bit of bar or a screwdriver as a stethoscope to try and pinpoint sounds - ie hold one end of screwdriver on a component and the other end up against your ear. A lever or crowbar inserted between components can also identify play too.
...but by now you probably know all this. PS I have a stethoscope here, would you like to borrow it ...you'll have to provide the white coat Steve. Thanks Steve....if only you were a little closer I could borrow the stethoscope and you could do the rocking
White coats......I often have nightmares about men in white coats.... Good idea will the screw driver - will give it a go. There's been a reasonable amount of hands under there looking for play but none found so far? Will keep you all posted. Not sure but it's possible it might be a faction louder than it was back in March but not sure? |

I think I may have to shelve the def until it can have the axle replaced.....things seems to be getting worse. not the noise but;
braking weight of steering gear changes apparent loss of power...... |

Is it April the first. With this famous axle I would reckon scrap value.

Keep it and when the time comes use it as a headstone. Steve.
