BMW Serviced with Mobile 1 at every 18k miles and I change it between them doing it, so every 9k (I still worry about the dodgy cam chain issue thought) DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I pre-mix my 2SO with some diesel in an old 2SO 4l can. In my other cars with DPF's I run 300:1 so I pre-mix 1l of 2SO with 2L of diesel and then just add 200ml to 20l or 700ml to 70l etc. When I add to the Defender without the DPF I run 200:1 and add 1.5 times the amount ie 300ml to 20l or 1050ml to 70l.

Makes deciding the quantity to add easier, I think it helps the 2SO mix in the tank and it makes the quantity less sensitive (ie if you add 220ml to 20l of diesel it means you've only added about 7ml of 2SO more)

'06 TD5. 250 mls 2so added to full tank for first try. Most noticeable the reduced engine noise ,especially on cold start up.

( a generic horticultural mineral type )

I have to say at 1:300 I could tell no difference at all but at 1:200 there is definitely an improvement in noise and smoothness.

2013 USW so 2.2.

Comma low ash mineral 2 stroke. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

I'm nearly at the end of my first tank on trial, cheap mineral 2stroke, 200ml added to a full tank, Ive noticed a difference in noise, it certainly runs smoother but Im sure there is an increase in exhaust smoke, maybe I'm just looking for it more but I'm sure it's there

Not sure if it's coincidental - but at the end of my first tankful my mpg had dropped quite a bit.

I'm trying the next tank without to see what that returns.

I'll persevere with it for another tank or two and see if the smoke gets less

On 3rd tank of 2stroke mix, definitely quieter on cold start, and generally quieter( engine noise), not noted any increase in mileage,( to varied).no noticeable increase in smoke. Must add this is using Tesco diesel, not any premium diesel.

its worth noting that potentially different 2stroke oils will give different results

someone using a mineral based one for a chain saw is likely to see a difference to someone using a synthetic one made for high performance motorcycle engine,s this is what it says on the Castrol web about the stuff I use in the BM

Castrol POWER1 2T with Clean Burn Formula provides long lasting performance.

For 2-stroke motorcycles.

Castrol POWER1 2T with Clean Burn Formula provides long lasting performance. It keeps the key engine components clean and free from carbon deposits, ensures low level of exhaust smoke. It protects from seizure under most arduous riding conditions and allows for fast & easy cold start.
