Mineral or semi-synth.

5ml of 2 stroke per litre.

This sounds like a plan..... Just waiting for my Ebay seller to deliver the Forte and then I think a dose of every other fill (good shout SZRacer) is in order. If nothing else, for a couple of months to trial it.

I'm still not 100% sure if it should be mineral or semi synth, FB or FC or in fact it doesn't matter. The only concensus I can see is deffo NOT fully synthetic. Assume no real difference for a Td5 against a PUMA. Perhaps logically it makes sense to only mix a mineral 2 stroke in with 'mineral' diesel

Too late and too windy to go rumaging in the barn to see whether my Stihl 2 stroke is the right spec.... One for the morning and then off to Turneys methinks.

Out of interest - has anyone noticed any significant change in mpg either way as a consequence ? Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

You should only use mineral oil, as semi and synthetic don't burn up completely leaving ash deposits in the cat. I use Motul 100 MOTO MIX 2T Lubricant for 2 Stroke engines from site sponsor Opie oils. It is a mineral oil with rating JASO FB. JASO FC is a low ash oil which I have in the garage for my 2 stroke outboard engines, but wont risk using it in my landy as it is semi-synthetic. Basically any mineral 2 stroke oil with JASCO FB rating will do. Thumbs Up

Glad to hear that the mineral JASO FB SPEC is O.K. for the Puma. Very Happy 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

According to the Aussie thread should only use FC rated if you have a cat.

Cheers for that. I am correct in assuming that the Puma has a cat? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

All puma's have them as far as I know. Some threads here about de-cat pipes and such.

Incorrect. Pumas in SA do not have the cat. Although the pipe is there, the internals are not and the oxygen sensor is not connected.

Look on your gearbox on the side closest to the exhaust. If you see an unconnected plug there, it means you don't have a cat.

Just filled up and slapped in some, going for 0.2ml per litre to start off.

This from Halfrauds, correct spec and £9 quid a liter Shocked
