I don't think it will solve a problem , its more to prevent problems (hopefully ! )

but cant see the harm in trying it

earlier defenders were bit more juicy , I know my 200tdi was , if you got no smoke , misfire , rough tick over then it maybe as it should be

Try sticking an injector cleaner through it?
You can get the tips of your injectors changed/serviced at your local bosch place, new injectors are a lot of moolah!

Yeah it runs and sounds great but it has always had a slight uneven run on idle, last owner had speeded up the idle to prevent this but i found it was idling to fast and slowed it down and noticed it and just the other weekend as i was stood over the engine assisting son fit the clutch master cylinder i noticed no 4 injector was very rusty compaired to the other 3 hence why i think i have an injector problem Confused Graham

take them out and get them tested , doesn't cost that much

the non electronic injectors are a lot cheaper to recon or buy new

im not a great lover of recon injectors , if funds can do it try to find some new ones

9 out of 10 times its metal from the high pressure pump (just normal wear ) that's causes the problem with injectors and no additive will dissolve metal !

also might be worth checking pump timing , just because the cambelt timing is right it doesn't mean the pump timing is right

Oops - I put 250 in, not sure why I said 300.

Mine is a 90 - I was calculating from the detailed quote at the start of the thread, which states 200:1 - 500ml to 1000 litres. I have 50 + litres in so I'm in line with it.

I'll report back. Thumbs Up

Just a though, does the 2SO mix ok when poured into the tank?

I usually put a glob in the tank at the petrol station before refueling in the belief that it helps it mix? In case the 2SO just sinks in the diesel and sits in the bottom of the tank? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I have a 90, and I put 250ml of 2SO when the fuel light comes on and I fill up (about 50 liters) which works out at 200 to 1.

Well ! Mine is substantially smoother and quieter.

It seems most noticeable at lower engine speeds - as in it rattles if In a bit firm of aggressive in the throttle, however tick over and on he gentle pick up the engine note is substantially different.

Only other point - I wasn't sure if pick up was a little slower ? That may be due to me still getting used to this engine though.

2 stroke or 4 stroke?- any significant difference other than the 4 stroke looks and feels more like chainsaw oil (thicker)?

I have used both but can`t notice any difference so far. Does anyone else has experience of the matter? -99 Td5 90 CSW
