Hi, Is Zagato still doing this service?

Sent a PM, called the number shown on this page for Chris a couple of times - no answer, and left a voice message. No feedback yet

Is he away at the moment?

RECOMMENDATION REQUIRED? Need to know where to get your new Defender protected against corrosion? Quote from Bowler Motorsport Technician yesterday. "Your 110 is the best protected Defender we have ever seen in here - it will last forever!" All down to the thorough treatment it received from Zagato (Chris) last month.

Nice to have my work acknowledged especially by Bowler, thanks Jo Thumbs Up

My next two Defenders are re-doing undersealing work done by two different companies Rolling Eyes plus all the extra stuff I do to the body and chassis which is the important bit as these things rot in critical areas from the inside out.

A simple ad-hoc splurge of underseal is pretty useless, you really have to get your smaller nozzles into all the hidden areas that are not so easy to get at. Plastering the outside of the chassis with gunk may look like a done job but it's the inner areas which collect mud/dirt that rot and there is a lot of them.

I am hoping to produce a more thorough guide to the one I have on hear so that people can see exacktly what needs to be done and what extent the work involves so that it's easier for others to do there own Defenders and saves me time in the evenings explaining to folks that call as it's difficult to describe certain areas/brackets etc. Always happy to help where I can though Thumbs Up

I did a bit of paint protection at the weekend.

Previously my door seals had rubbed through the paint at the bottom of all the door frame and caused corrosion. This was fixed under warranty and they had applied some waxoil type stuff to stop it happening again.

I noticed that the paint was starting to scuff again so I used some 3M Helicopter tape left over from my bike between the paint and the door seal. I also put some on the edge of the sills and the bit just inside the sills to prevent the paint getting scuffed from feet.

Hopefully this will mean I won't have to go down the checker plate route eventually for the sills.

Hopefully you can see on the pictures

I've PMd Zagato for a quote on a new 90 SW, however, in the interim, I did have two question for the knowledgeable.

I assume it would make sense to replace all the hardware with stainless bolts before doing the corrosion protection - am I wrong? Furthermore, would it make the most sense to replace them whilst carrying out the protection?

Secondly, would the same carry over to a the fitting of the spare wheel carrier?

I'd like to give the beast the best start in life and would rather have the job done once and done right.

Having had the underbody done by the dealer as part of the deal, there is only one check that needed doing.......a trip to Zagato (Chris) to ensure all was good, sadly as Chris has previously posted mine was one of the defenders that he was doing the job on as the best way to discribe what he checked was laughable Laughing

Couple of days later, job done top man,top job attention to detail out of this world. Cannot recommend highly enough. Bow down
