Well, with the great feedback Zagato has been receiving, I look forward to seeing his new comprehensive 'how to' guide!

No doubt it will be a great resource for all owners Internationally.

Now to find a retailer that will send Dinitrol products to Australia Rolling Eyes

Fantastic thread and information!

I started this weekend with the full ACF-50 on all the capping and exposed areas inside, and out. (actually got the ACF-50 through a service department from a local seaplane airline). They RAVE about the product, and Dinitrol as well, they use some of their products. As they put it "we are maintaining aluminum aircraft that live in a salt water environment. This stuff is magic." Now I need to find out who I can actually get all the various Dinitrol products from here in Canada, they only had one of them.

Looking for forward to the new detailed how to guide as well!!

corrosion warranty
Hi , after 4 years of main dealer servicing I was going to use a local indie but have been told that I will lose my 6 year corrosion warranty if not using the main dealers. Does this sound right Shocked

Rubbish, the fact that we all queue up to get Zag to work on our defenders as soon as we've collected them from the dealers says it all.

Pretty sure there's confirmation of this by an JLR rep on the pages here

Here we go: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic22959.html

Sorry re read your post, not too sure about the indie servicing but I had some corrosion warranty work done on our old td5 following services at an indie garage which didn't seem to be a problem.

Servicing else where doesn't make a chassis rust

go into your main dealer and have a free body inspection each year and they can't then refuse warranty bodywork Ray

Thanks Mal, this is some overspray from years ago. Will try WD40 today.
Eric

Edit for result - The WD40 worked a treat. That was Dinitrol which had been sticking there for almost 4 years now on those plastic panels, a light dusting WD40, let it soak for 5 minutes, another dusting, and then with a soft cloth I just wiped it all clean.
Best to make sure not to let WD40 come in touch with any Dinitrol which should stay. Laughing
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I'm afraid it won't be for a while 'Olsey'. We are planning to do a video guide that is comprehensive but as succinct as possible. It needs staging properly and with an imminent house move and a SAAB 96 to rebuild and get back together before the move the video may have to wait until later in the year - sorry.

Busy scraping off 40 year old SAAB underseal revealing beautiful rust free panels on my one owner 70k miles 96V4

SAABS had extensive anti corrosion treatment to weather the harsh Swedish conditions, they were treated to last twice as long as other marques...

Back on topic and I have this brand new black beauty to treat today Very Happy

Just a warning about ACF-50. It,s great for getting old hard underseal off if left for a few weeks. My 40 year old underseal peeled off in places where the ACF-50 had soaked through where it had been chipped off. saved me hours of chipping away at it Wink It,s OK on fresh Dinitrol of course.

I am moving to new premises in about a month and have got my first clients with classic cars. I will be doing an AC Ace, Jag XK 120 and an Austin Healey who are old contacts when I had my replica pictured below and a very nice 1967 Cortina who is new to me and has just popped in for a quote Very Happy
