Well, we could give a rat's ass for the MOT.
Any recommendations for where to source a clean open down pipe for delivery to the USA? ****CENSORED**** |

So its out with the drill bits and an internal sleeve then. or make it look like a cat the joy of section 7.1
Our place only became a testing station about two years ago, when the sales man came to sell us the equipment we noticed the emissions tester had a eobd function he told us that a diagnostic check via the tester may come into the test in time. I have no idea if that is true or not I would be interested to know if any other testers have heard the same or was it just sales patter. All I know is the range on the smoke tester head is rubbish and we really should have got a better one. |

Personally I welcome the tests.
Pot and Kettle as yes, I've dabbled in the past with removing/emptying cats on cars albeit a long time ago. Any technology that is reducing emissions on our highly polluting vehicles can only be a good thing. Car, bike, 4x4 not quick/powerful enough? You've bought the wrong vehicle. I expect there'll be a bit of backlash, but I'm sure I won't be the only one on here with this opinion. Cat, DCat, DPF, EGR, yes please. I appreciate that they can be a pain in the rear, but suspect most people are not removing them because they are a pain, they are removing them because they think it'll turn their sluggish Defender into a Ferrari. If you want to see what all this power sapping technology is trying to achieve, you've only got take a look at China You may think that your one vehicle won't make a difference, but if everyone thought like that. Any of the tuning fraternity care to offer some reassurance that tuning doesn't alter emissions outside of the legal requirement? |

Slight problem with the CAT with the MOT is if it's just a visual test which is about all they can do then aftermarket manufacturers will just sell dummy cats into the section where appropriate or as suggested here drill the inners out. They can't really go by emissions as they are variable to a degree anyway.
Personally I have kept standard except for a straight through centre exhaust section. No tune no changes to anything, runs well enough to me. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Whatever happens I hope people are going to be responsible about where and from whom they buy their second hand "replacement"cat/DPF so that they dont start a sudden demand for stolen cats. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Not difficult once it's been removed from your driveway and is siting in a lock up with 4 blokes stripping it for parts.
