Had my 2005 TD5 for 3 months, broken down twice, cost £865 so far and that's without a service or MOT so you're not doing too bad. That's the trouble with old vehicles. I still love it though!

My van side leaked when I got it, just behind the drivers seat. I loosened the bolts, clamped the sides down with some woodworking clamps and then tightened up the bolts. Worked for me!

Have you tried an impact driver? Or you could weld a nut onto the head of any destroyed screws, the heat of the welding will also help to loosen them.
