Hello All,
On my TDCI defender 90 Pick up, I have 2 little rust spots coming through on the paintwork just under the windscreen, would this be rusting just where the spots are or would it be the whole width of my defender, also what would be the best way to get rid of it b4 it gets to worse?? Thanks in advance |

I could take the bolts off the door hinges that go into the bulkhead, but have they got nuts the other side or is it just a screw out, screw in bolt, I don't know weather that's would help/stop it??? If I sprayed some anti - corrosion stuff in there???

They are captive nuts -J nuts - in the bulkhead, although they can be a bit of a sod so I'd be prepared with new ones if you haven't had the bolts out before. Darren

OK thanks, are they hard to put back in and does it matter if the old ones fall down the bulkhead or not??

'Fiddly' and 'no, not really'. I expect that there are many Defenders running around with nuts lost down the bulkhead pillars! Darren

Hello arran jones
As L'R'A said M8 J Nuts...old type on the left...new type on the right (longer thread section... ) I replaced all mine when I did this. Click image to enlarge Undo the bolts, Bulk Head side (one hinge at a time... ) and in you go with Dinitrol 3125 a long reach pipe will allow you to get good (all be it blind) coverage within the 'cavity'. Have now, ordered 3 aresols of dinitrol 3125(500ml) with extension pipes and 8 captive nuts,
As I can see the rust spots on the paintwork, how do I get rid of that from the outside, because obviously dinitrol will only stop it not take it away Thanks again |
