When I put some in I thought there was probably a difference but you never know what the placebo effect is.

But when madam next got in, she asked what on earth I had done to the engine , it was so quiet.

She is not a woman known for her mechanical sensitivity.

Sorry if Iīve missed when/where itīs been answered.

What about 2SO and the DPF. I read contradictory things elsewhere. Some say that 2SO will add Sulphur-Ash which blocks the DPF. Others say that combustion is cleaner with 2SO so in the end the DPF benefits. The latter thesis seems to be based on "gut feeling" rather than measurements. And if Sulphur were not to be considered , I wouldnīt have to buy that 5W30-C1 oil for it.

Anyone driving a post-ī12MY TD4 with 2SO and without DPF blocking (mileage?).

Yep , 2.2 110 XS with 12000 miles . Making no differance to the DPF and had no smoke or soot or running problems . The DPF is doing its job and running a burn cycle at 880 degrees every 350 miles for me . Can I feel a differance with the 2SO ? Not really , except the cost at 350ml every tankfull . Unless its beneficial to the engine then i don't see it doing any other positive things , eg : fuel economy , emitions ,

Ive stopped using 2SO in my TD5 and now using the millers diesel max stuff. Its never ran so well!

I think different additives suit different motors. I used that stuff religiously on my previous VW engined motor and I was still getting running issues eg frequent gunged up MAP sensor. Then 2SO cured everything miraculously. I regard 2 stroke now as a kind of automotive All-Bran - stops everything sticking to the sides Laughing

Same thing, we were driving on the highway at 100kph and actually having a conversation (unfortunately for me!) when she said the sound proofing I installed was working really well. Only thing is that the sound proofing is still in the packet...

2 stroke doesn't do much for the whine of BFG KM2's though so the sound proofing will still go in.

I've used quality 2SO in my BM for 62k miles from new it has a DPF no ill effects so far in fact the at each MOT they cant even measure the emissions DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

everyone I got to try it are all reporting good things , and are all continuing to use it

never known any additive to have as good results as 2t

That was from a post nearly five years ago. I still use Millers to this day and it has become 'second nature' each fill up to shove some in the tank. I obviously must have rated it too but have been using it so long now I've forgotten why?

Please forgive me for being ignorant but i am not sure if i have an injector problem or not really heavy on juice 20 mpg ( 2.5 td 90 with defender 200tdi fitted ) so assuming i have would 2 stroke help solve this or am i better buying a new set of injectors and going from there Confused Graham

Graham, I may be wrong but if it runs well with no undue noise or smoke personally I wouldn't worry. Most modern Defenders return on average (for those that drive 'normally') 24-27mpg. Taking the age and boots that you have fitted to your nice looking truck as stated don't worry too much.

Also if it ain't broke don't fix it. Perhaps a little Millers for a few tankfulls and then see how you fair at worst, or, just leave well alone.
