What's the theory behind the expansion tank one-way valve then chaps?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Think it to do with the height of the Webasto in relation to the expansion tank. As the Webasto is installed quite high on the TD5 I presume there could be a chance of air traveling back down the top hose causing an air lock. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

OK - but presumably it affects the designed operation of the header tank which should have free flow both ways through that pipe?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I Could be way off mark but I think the small hose takes the expansion water from the system which is then fed back in through the larger hose at the bottom of the tank.

Not sure about this, but I know when I put a Webasto in my TD5, until I put a one way valve on the expansion tank the pump on the Webasto would draw air into the coolant system causing no water to pump around and the Webasto to overheat and shutdown.

ITEM N° 3

Without check-valve, the expansion box coolant level go up (3 - 4 cm) when the engine is warmed up. With the valve the "problem" was gone.

On the original TD5 Land Rover Webasto KIT, the installation of the valve is MANDATORY!

Translation of German above:

Quote:
CAUTION!

When installing the non-return valve respect the forward direction!
  • Loosen the vehicle pipe (19/1) at the hose (19/4) connecting to the expansion tank.
  • Insert the check valve (19/3) in the hose (19/4) (the forward direction is from the engine to expansion tank) and secure with hose clamp
  • Attach the vehicle pipe (19/1) using a piece of tubing (19/2) and 2 hose clamps

My FBH has stopped working Big Cry

Took the supply fuel pipe off the heater end and once the fuel pump starts a couple squirts come out and then nothing although the fuel pump can be heard clicking. Does this sound like fuel starvation and is there a fuel filter built in to the system ?

Have checked fuses etc but all ok. FBH stars running on demand but then shuts down after 3 minutes ? 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

could be the fuel filter in the pump is blocked... you've been using non-BP fuel ?
