Hi
Make - LR Model - Def Year - 2002 Mods - ----- Use (road/track etc) - Mainly road I bought the car with 133.000 km's on the clock. Since then my garage, a well known LR specialist with over 25 years experience, serviced the vehicle with 10W40 semi synthetic. The car now has done 364.000 km's. Never had any issues enginewise. Oil consumption is 1 litre of oil between service intervals = 20.000 km's. My question: LR specifically recommends 5W40, can I expect more oil consumption using the 10W40 sem-synthetic variety as the vehicle will cock up more km's? I intend to keep it at least for another 6 years, roughly clocking up some 200.000 km's from now. Thanks in advance! |

Hi Not at the moment, it looks like we're going to have a change of filter supplier, so need to see how that affects the service packs. Hi As you intend on keeping it, I would use the 5w-40 synthetic as it's the better oil. Unfortunately, you can't predict oil consumption with similar grades. I have a 2.2 Puma and I'm having trouble sourcing WSS-M2C-934-B. I would really like one of the big brands; Shell, Mobi, Castrol but I can only seem to source the correct spec oil from Champion who I have never heard of?
Has anyone ever used Champion oils? I would like to use the site sponsor but postage on 8L of oil to Italy is rather expensive..? |

Hi Oilman,
Have just clocked up north of 4.5k miles on my new 2.2 TDCi Puma. I'd like to do a first oil and filter change after 'running in'. Below the usual details. Web link to a page on your site so I can purchase straight away would be most appreciated...I know, being lazy here Make: LR Defender Model: 2.2 TDCi 110 SW XS Year: 2015 Engine type: Diesel Performance modifications: None Driving style: Road, long journeys: London-Alps, London-Cornwall, London-Spain Any other information that may be relevant: Engine oil and filter - best quality available, this will be a high mileage car and a keeper, so I don't want to be saving on fuel quality or oil quality. Thanks much |

Hi
You need an oil that meets the Ford 934B spec and here are the ones that we have. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-1300-ford-wss-...e-oil.aspx They are all good oils, so go with whichever brand or price you prefer. Here are the filters that we have. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/vehicle-lookup.aspx?lookup=2701 Regards Tim Use the code DEF2 and get 10% Club Discount View Opie Oils Current Offers Here > > oilman's website: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ - register for news and offers email: sales@opieoils.co.uk phone: 01209 202944 |

Hi. Any thoughts on what adverse effects I should expect from using chevron 5-30w semi synthetic changed every 6 months over the recommended fully synthetic each 12 months

Hi It depends on the required spec. If it needs the 934B spec, there may well be issues with the DPF. If it just needs the 913C or 913D spec, it's likely that there will be no problem, other than the more basic the oil, the less protection you get.
