I must thank Chris for preserving my 110 UW, the green one above. I did mean to say thank you earlier but I have been away from internet.
After storing it in the garage for a week and a bit since collecting it, it was fantastic to have it out on the road and not worry about getting it all mucky under the arches! Thanks Chris, it was great to meet you and I will enjoy the car now. Alex |

Thanks all...
Finished this low mileage Cortina yesterday, incredible condition... Definitley not an example for blasting with Dinitrol and absolutely no water was involved It was evident it has been dry for years. It just needed areas rubbing back and treating. Is there anyone else down South worth trying for Dinitrol e.g Thatched garage etc...or is Chris the way to go as I see he is well respected...what is the sort of price for a 110?

HORRORS - salt corrosion at just 6 years old. Rotten rear tub cappings also but worse the bulkhead hinge which holds the bonnet which similar to the cappings is just bare metal underneath. Get your ACF-50 on a couple of times a year to keep both areas sound
To be fairer, the Defender is used to this very environment but salt roads are equally damaging. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Last edited by Zagato on 10th Aug 2015 5:48am. Edited 1 time in total |

Hi guys,
Another newbie here, biut not new to Defenders. Following my batptism with a Series 3 88 incher some decades ago, I'm now on my 4th Defender 90 - a new 90 XS. Really, really interesting and useful information on this site. Thanks everybody. I've been reading the anti-corrosioin thread with some fascination and am massively impressed with Zagato's contribution of course. Zagato, I'd love to have a conversation with you about you treating my latest pride and joy? Many thanks. |

Ordered 4 Dinitrol kits today, I'm doing my truck, and have a few others that want it done here in Vancouver.
If you're in the UK it's an everyday thing, but it's not available in North America, nor can Rejel ship (not cheap), but from all accounts from everyone on the board here, it's the best product out there, well worth the time and money. Quite the effort to get the products over here, especially before the hot dry summer ends, which is the perfect time to apply. Looking forward to starting the "preservation process" I have seen a low res of the Defender diagram for application, does it automatically come with the kit? |
