We need to put RLD to the task of coming up with some different hinges.

Thats what I have. Trouble is it kept going off for no reason and you're right, you absolutely fly up and out. In the end i got a sleeve which narrows the beam, then pointed it at a certain area on the vehicle and it works just fine. Mine was a hundred quid from memory |

We're working on some serious security products for the Defender, but why not try shearing / security fixings (i.e. bolts that shear at a set torque limit) and need to be drilled out. How often do you need to remove the bonnet? This might be a solution. Editor of FunRover - One blog. Read it!

Mount a spring gun pointing to the bonnet ... Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

The bonnets aren't held on with bolts. If you lift them up high enough they just lift out of the hinges. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

These look interesting if they fit - you only need one so could go halves with someone. They could still get the bonnet off if determined but not many people would want to buy it with this stuck into it with a hole made. I wonder how it would look though Maybe K9F could trial it |

I will if you will, I'll go halves with you Zag..... No need really.... I am relying on two things.... 1. I've drilled 28 holes in mine and have Chequerplate with a nice little transponder embedded in the sealant underneath. 2. Being a sparky and for a few quid you could theoretically set yourself up with an autonamous rechargable battery pack, a siiren and a plunger activated microswitch which will operate irrespective if the alarm is bypassed or the battery supply is cut. With an undervoltage relay it will go off when and if the battery supply is chopped before the bonnet is even lifted! All available from RS.....Apparently.... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
