After the fun on Saturday with Simon on our group green laning day, so on Sunday morning i had a draught to sort out Wink

Yet again the genuine LR product has let me down, so off with the N/S vent/flap .....................

Then i had to sort the problem out again .........

Sorted with some industrial super glue....

Then i had to put the vent/flap on again and this little trick really helps to locate and line it all up ...

Then it was all good to go ....

So first of all we had tip polishing, yes I joined the club about a week ago. Rolling Eyes Whistle

Now we've had draughty flaps. Rolling with laughter

On a different note. Laughing
Was it that adhesive double sided type tape that LR originally used on the seals?
If so, that's terrible stuff as it goes soft when it gets warmer weather and will just push ofo or slip off. Rolling Eyes
I've had some foam tape with that type of adhesive on and it's pretty useless, so much so there isn't any point in using it. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Laughing

The first time it went was between the foam and rubber , really strange that, then this time is was the tape that sticks it to the flap Rolling Eyes 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

I've known the foam to go, it's self but not the adhesive as well. I try and avoid foam tapes now where possible for that reason.
It can be very annoying I know. Thumbs Up ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Yes it's very very annoying, it's ok in the summer months but you tend to notice it a bit more this time of year Wink 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

You cannot beat industrial glue at all, I repaired my 306s seat recliner handle with that stuff. Also my defenders steering wheel too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Millie has been going great but the other day when i had got to my work store and stopped her to load up, she smelt very diesely, this was the 3rd or 4th day like this so i lifted the bonnet and found the the front injector all wet with diesel Sad so on the way home i stopped into my indy and he found the problem which was the hard plastic return pipe that goes to the injection pump had a crack in the curve bit and was rubbing on the plastic/soundproofing cover, so within 10 minutes it was fixed and i was on my way home, i can't grumble really as it was the original pipe Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

So about a couple of weeks ago on the way home from picking up the wife from work, i had this type of squeaky noise that i had not heard before, so i tried to find it and pinned it down to the drivers door, so before i had a chance to have a good look at it, the problem was found by catching my jumper sleeve on the bit of plastic that goes around the thing you lock and unlock the door with was loose Rolling Eyes Very Happy
The weekend just gone i made a start on taking the door card off and with it all exposed i saw the problem, the plastic bit had totally broken .....

At the same time i set about fixing the well known week spot on the door as i did try to fix this a few years ago but to no avail Rolling Eyes
I started of with the bolt that secures the window mechanism as a good point then i got a good piece of metal and filed the cut edges smooth, then drilled a hole for the bolt to go through, then bent it to the right angle and then drilled the other hole in the door ....

Then the piece of metal in place and a nut and bolt on the right hand side ...

With this done the door was back to normal, no flex in it and nice and firm, i always keep plenty of stock for breakages and so with the new part in ....

Then just to put the door card back on ......

What a difference the piece of metal has made, the door shuts spot on with a good solid sound and i'm well happy with the outcome Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

So after fixing the door lock and door, i set about changing over the door catches as those are the original ones to these ...

The old ones that came off ....

So with those fitted i set about sorting the doors out, first was making sure the lines were all lined up and then sorting the new door seal gaps Rolling Eyes

I had been thinking about this problem for a week or two and having a good look, i came up with a plan of action and i have now sorted both doors now so they don't leak and waver in and out when on the move, well chuffed with the out come Mr. Green 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
