Thatโs such a great looking 110 Clayton! Iโve always liked the pick ups, especially with the cage. 1983 110 automatic OM606

Two or three weeks ago my N/S door handle was coming away from the door slightly when opening the door, and was getting worse the more the door was used, so on Saturday ( 28th ) i had good weather to tackle the job. Hoping for a easier fix thinking the bolt / screw just needing to be tightened up, i was wrong
The bolt had not come lose, the whole that the bolt goes through on the metal part of the door frame to keep it tight had totally rusted away so i managed to undo the bolt a bit but not all the way as it was spinning on itself, i then had a moment and this is what i came up with to hold it in place, i had to slide it in from the bottom as there was no room to slide it down from the top Click image to enlarge looking up from below Click image to enlarge I used an angle piece of aluminium for a bit more strength and cut a slot in it and then i was able to close the top part so it would not slide down, it works a treat. I didn't want to take off the handle and put a new one on as later on this year i'm going to be replacing both doors as i'm in the process of getting my spare doors done 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Good idea, you can bet if anything spins itโll be in the most difficult access area.
LR are good at making fixes or anything like that more time consuming than expected. No Guts, No Glory.
