I received my kit from Rejel yesterday. I’m looking at treating on Tuesday while the weather is hot and it will all flow well.

I’m looking at removing bumper grill headlamp surrounds and mud flaps and brackets for access.

Are there any other items I should remove (110 usw). Do the plastic trays under seats need removing?

I have also seen a dinitrol guide that suggest some holes should be drilled the plugged. Is this correct. If so does anybody have a copy of the guide available.
Can’t wait to get stuck into this as the lack of treatment currently really lets my truck down

I removed the plastic tray under battery box and also the two plastic covers held in with a couple of screws covering the rear lights. There is a channel below these that was full of muck.

I did not drill any additional holes or use the plugs.

You need to do around the rear lights.

These were pictures taken after the defender had “allegedly” been totally dinitrolled by an approved application centre prior to my ownership. Luckily the approved application centre I took it too did a much much better job.

At least doing it yourself you will ensure everywhere is coated correctly like boxoftricks.

I did a previous defender I owned and whilst a messy job it’s very satisfying just allow yourself plenty of time Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

Yes I have watched as much on yt as there is. And will work my way through the fifty odd pages of this thread. I just want to get it right first time. I know it’s not a one off and will need doing again in the future but I want to make as good a job as possible first hit.

I did mine from brand new with Bilt Hamber's 100% British 'Dynax' range and after five years it's remarkably rust-free underneath. I've re-coated any fringes as soon as the slightest sign of rust appears, which I'm sure has helped too.

I've just ordered four more cans of Dynax UB ready to top it up as soon as we get a decent spell of dry weather. Looking back, I'm still amazed I managed to get through 23 cans (of the three different types) originally, but it was worth it.

Details are here for those interested:

I rate the Bilt H stuff too. It's less fit-and-forget that other treatments, but I like that the clear one can be used everywhere e.g. wheel arch insides and it leaves the truck looking original, plus you can easily monitor if corrosion is starting.
I find for best results I have to do it yearly though. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

I think the moral of this is as Zagato says is to get it treated with a “good product”and there are lots on the market these days and get it applied well after lots of prep work and protect our investments Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

Yep a good product but key is the prep work. Get it clean and degreased and properly dried out before you start.

Love this thread and will be the second time I have used the very comprehensive guide Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Treated mine from new in 2015 and about to clean and top up in the next week or two. Last time I used clear wax as wanted to keep the original look and offers the ability to see any issues.

For some reason I am struggling to find the clear dinitrol this time can find clear cavity wax but not under seal only black can anyone point me in the right direction?

Which clear product do you want. Is it Corroheat? Presume you have tried Rejel!
