Zag, while my truck is very well looked after here, and while I don’t really like the idea of driving on the wrong side of the road , it is clear that I have to plan a visit to you if I want that kind of detail and quality. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Yes stone chip under rear wheel arch and other high abrasion areas such as axles if you go off-road. You will need about 12 aerosols (presume you are wanting aerosols) of 4941 for a 110 minimum. I charge £490 but to DIY budget for about £180 these days with ACF-50 BUT you do need a professional mask £80, plus filters £20. DO NOT breath in the acid convertor, it is lethal let alone the other products. You will damage your lungs permanently, ask me how I know!! Even with pro filters it gets through

Thanks. I was planning to use POR15 Metal Prep that I already have in a hand pumped bottle rather than the aerosol acid converter. Am I safe to assume they are basically the same thing?

Yes, they are Actually Metal Prep (Used to be called Metal Ready) is a water based acid convertor whilst Dinitrol RC900 is an epoxy based acid convertor. They are both only as good as you prep the metal, I.e. Get as much rust off as possible, down to bare metal if you can. You will be fine spraying Dinitrol ML or 4941 directly over the top of Metal Prep without rinsing after application, a paint product would require it however.

May I add another vote for Kranzle pressure washers. I've had a K1152 TST for five years and although it was expensive, it's been out of this world compared to my previous DIY store ones.
If you're REALLY keen, after you've washed all the muck off, you'll want one of these too: https://www.cardryers.co.uk/Master-Blaster-Car-Dryer.php They're absolutely fantastic. Just don't give it a whirl in your living room when you unpack it though.... |

Thanks for this guide. I've been looking into Dinitrol products online. I have some rust evident around the wheel arches and noticed they produce a rust converter spray called RC 900. Does this spray work and stop any further corrosion or is it best to viist a professional body shop? https://www.tiltrak.com/product/dinitrol-rc900-rust-converter/

I received my kit from Rejel yesterday. I’m looking at treating on Tuesday while the weather is hot and it will all flow well.
I’m looking at removing bumper grill headlamp surrounds and mud flaps and brackets for access. Are there any other items I should remove (110 usw). Do the plastic trays under seats need removing? I have also seen a dinitrol guide that suggest some holes should be drilled the plugged. Is this correct. If so does anybody have a copy of the guide available. Can’t wait to get stuck into this as the lack of treatment currently really lets my truck down |
