I have now hopefully sorted this problem out, full info in the Tdi section Thumbs Up

Yesterday morning i had finally some time to do the door seals/weatherstrips on Millie as i think that they are the originals and well past there sale date, so as it's not a to quick job i got the both sides done and the doors shut much tighter now, you have to put a bit more force at the moment as the new seals need to wear in a bit, the only pic i took for you ....

All is ok with Millie and no sign of her cough Wink

so i had finally some time to my self to spend on Millie, so it was time to give her a thorough clean .......

Before ...

Then after the underneath clean and the pre-wash clean and finally the shampoo clean and after that, to dry her down fully

Then onto what i call the 3 stage " polish "

as it's her first major clean she gets a

1. gentle paint restorer

2. polish

3. wax (canuba wax )

So after that awesome therapy, with all the black arches done and also the other black parts and all the windows done, this is was you get .....................

It took me over 2 hours to get to this stage using 240 wet n dry, using it wet, this is the first time this has been done to the exhaust and has been on for a good 5+ years Very Happy

haha, your lucky clayton that your exhausts lasts! I had a down pipe on, only a year and that was practically ready to rot through! the rest of the system was also rotten! The centre box was spanking new brand, even that had ended up with a hole in it Shocked Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Good to see Millie all clean and a semi polished tip.

To go a bit further I’d try a glue/tar remover on it. To see if that brings off any of the residual muck. Then go for something like autosol metal polish, easier applied if you have a deemed or small polishing device?

Keep it up, after her successful MOT she deserves the attention. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

I would use an alloy wheel cleaner (meguiars ultimate.) with gloves on with a 3M red scotch pad.
Then a grey finer pad, repeat above then white diamond metal polish.

Or you could use the white diamond a Dremel and a couple of mini polishing mops.
You'd want a mask though for that.

I've done mine before to about the same standard as you have, there is tar spotting as well which can be a pain.

I don't really bother with it. Whistle Rolling with laughter

Oh and brands I mentioned is your choice, that's just what I'd use. Thumbs Up ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️
