All is ok with Millie and no sign of her cough
so i had finally some time to my self to spend on Millie, so it was time to give her a thorough clean ....... Before ... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then after the underneath clean and the pre-wash clean and finally the shampoo clean and after that, to dry her down fully Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then onto what i call the 3 stage " polish " as it's her first major clean she gets a 1. gentle paint restorer 2. polish 3. wax (canuba wax ) So after that awesome therapy, with all the black arches done and also the other black parts and all the windows done, this is was you get ..................... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then a week later i had a go at this Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I have got to a stage where i need some help from you guys, as you can see in the pic below, i have got allot of pits, so what can i use to get rid of them Click image to enlarge It took me over 2 hours to get to this stage using 240 wet n dry, using it wet, this is the first time this has been done to the exhaust and has been on for a good 5+ years TIA 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. haha, your lucky clayton that your exhausts lasts! I had a down pipe on, only a year and that was practically ready to rot through! the rest of the system was also rotten! The centre box was spanking new brand, even that had ended up with a hole in it Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I think that Simon you must of miss heard me I did say that i would give it a go and i have Very nice to see the shiny end sticking out from the body work I'm very surprised that you haven't done this yet as imo it will let your 90 down especially with the amount of looking after it gets I think it's time you moved forward Simon 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. I forgot 1 piece of very important info for you about Millie ...............
On the Saturday just gone, she went in for her MOT She passed with flying colours Only 1 advisory, N/S/F/seat belt got a couple nicks but not affecting the quality of the belt itself. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Good to see Millie all clean and a semi polished tip.
To go a bit further I’d try a glue/tar remover on it. To see if that brings off any of the residual muck. Then go for something like autosol metal polish, easier applied if you have a deemed or small polishing device? Keep it up, after her successful MOT she deserves the attention. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html Instagram - @r22oyp Roy |

I would use an alloy wheel cleaner (meguiars ultimate.) with gloves on with a 3M red scotch pad.
Then a grey finer pad, repeat above then white diamond metal polish. Or you could use the white diamond a Dremel and a couple of mini polishing mops. You'd want a mask though for that. I've done mine before to about the same standard as you have, there is tar spotting as well which can be a pain. I don't really bother with it. Oh and brands I mentioned is your choice, that's just what I'd use. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ Last edited by custom90 on 16th Jul 2019 9:13pm. Edited 1 time in total |
