Yep, it’s just a slightly different simpler version of your phone screen.
I added a mud glove box to mine. And popped the usb wire into there. Hidden away and easy to fit. The glove box has been described in here loads. Took half an hour max and was really really easy, but a great mod to do. Click image to enlarge |

Hi Amdy
I'm sfraid I'm not really sure how to help you or even that your concern has any validity. There needs to be a lead to connect your phont to the stereo. Car play doesn't work over wifi/bluetooth. On mine there is a USB extension running from the back of the stereo to the glove box.. This is to allow you to use either an apple connection or a samsung one. (We use both occasionally) If you break this then yes you'd have to take off the facia and replace the lead, but at least it's just a lead and not the stereo you'd need to replace. Also only takes 2 ,minutes leterally Wether it's dangling or not is up to you. Mine is nicely tied in and secure at the back of the stereo and through a gland on the glove box. I then have a 10cm apple lead connected to this so the wire length is minimal. |

OK, I misunderstood – I thought you meant you had the (notoriously crappy) apple lead plugged into the back of the stereo, but you have a male to female USB plugged in which makes more sense and I hadn’t thought of.

Hi Can I ask what splitter you went for? Was it just a simple cable, or one of the ones with a powered box? TIA |

I may well regret it, but opted for a single DIN pop out unit (after reading many threads with all the pros and cons etc).
So far very happy with my Pioneer AVH-Z7100DAB. Only time will tell... |

ive got the Pioneer AVIC Z910 DAB - wireless car play, means i can either leave phone in pocket etc, or just chuck it in the air charge dock ive installed.

Click image to enlarge I’ve replaced the facia and fitted a double din stereo, the only issue I have now is the clock doesn’t fit! It’s bottoming out on the top of the stereo. Anyone else had this problem? Or know of a simply drop in clock to fill the whole? Cheers |

Most people shave off a bit of plastic from the clock body to make it fit - use a Dremel or similar tool. |
