United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Keswick Green
Update on mine (@ 7500 miles):
A tank full of short trips on minor roads with mixed loads still yields 29 to 30mpg.
I expected motorway driving to at least equal (or better this) as I get more use out of 6th gear, but several long drives to the Lakes and back (needle showing steady between 70 & 75mph) average 26 to 27mpg.
(The opposite to my previous V8 which used to be several mpg better on motorways than minor roads).

I feel it's worth knowing what it typically achieves so if it ever drops off I'll know something is wrong.
Also zeroing the odometer every fill is a useful guide to range - I know there is 300 miles in the tank.

I'll have a look tomorrow but this tank saw one trip of circa 200miles and the rest just local ie less than 10 miles and at the moment I know its very nearly 370 miles and the low level light hasn't yet come on.

And the last car You had was comparable to the Defender (like; permanent 4WD, air drag like a brick, weight about 2 tonnes....)?
Then I agree with You in this one Crying or Very sad

But if Your last car was a Smart or a Toxxxa Aygo, then............ 08MY Defender 2.4 SE

Still keeping track of mine - average 28.4 over the first 5,000 miles, which disappointingly is slightly down on the old Td5.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, strange for a vehicle with cleaner emissions AND a small claimed reduction in CO2/mile. What's also odd is that I get just over 30 on local/short trips, but drops to 25-27 on motorways, in spite of the 6th gear (generally around 70mph). The Td5 didn't suffer that way...maybe the non-perforated sump guard acted as an up-side-down aerofoil and cleaned the airflow under the chassis??? It seems a bit far-fetched... 1953 80
