TDCi Mpg's
Just wondered what MPG's people are getting?

apart from a trip which saw 22!! mines been (fully laden with roof tent) returning 27-29 depending on my like of 70.

Its now only done 2500miles though and the other TDCi ford engines apparently bed in a little latter - well its certainly true on the wifes fiesta. Mike

I've got just over 6k on my 90XS now. Regularily getting 28/29 ish on a long run Very Happy 110 D250 SE HT

Im impressed with it to be honest - full of gear - rack on just worked it out at 28.1mpg at 60 - 70 and lanes.

I wonder how this, however, compares with a transit Mike

Wish I was getting those MPG figures.
Only getting 22/23 mpg and now have 12000mls. Average driving but when towing my fishing boat gets even worse. Also had to remove my roof rack as mpg was down to 19 ...... Sad
And Diesel not getting any cheaper !

Aint that the truth - i almost had a heart attack paying 1.31 at a shell in wales when i left it was £1.20 came back to £1.25 though

My 110 was not good to start with, worse 17.5 ish, best 23.4 from memory, but only about 3500 miles

After adding 2500 mile on a trip round Portugal/Spain etc,, including about 1000 miles off road, got a worse of 23.5. and best of 27 mpg, This is with 255/85 Mt tyres (so speedo more or less now spot on) Patriot rack, roof tent, and fully loaded !!

Certainly the 110's are 3/4 mpg worse that the 90's

PS Was nice to buy proper diesel a .59p per liter Very Happy California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Phew, reading this is a relief to me.

1st tankful on my new 110 returned a measly 17mpg Big Cry but there was a half days off-road use in that.

Hoping to get near 25mpg as an average whilst I am on road tyres and no rack etc. Andy

I regularly get a return pf 32>34mpg, thats doing A road and Motorway for 350 miles per week, usually fill up just under 400 miles.

And dont think I drive around slowly, thats mainly 60-70mph changing gear at around 2200 rpms Thumbs Up

The tank seems to hold about 65 litres which equates to 14.5 gallons. If you fill up at 400 miles that is an average of 27.5mpg Andy

I never said the tank was empty though, the light may come on at 400 miles.
I measure the mpg by:

1. Fill up to the top
2. Reset the odometer
3. Next time fill up note the amount of litres used and miles driven
4. (Mileage ÷ (litres used ÷ 4.54))

On mine the light comes on at about 260 and as the fuel level indicator then drops below the red in about 20 miles and I am not into fuel station roulette, I fill up. I am averaging about 24 mpg of mixed driving, but I did buy it to play, so it does get driven quite briskly.

On the other hand I have taken to driving my D3 more steadily and am getting over 30mpg out of that. 2019 MY Disco 5 HSE Lux

Re-filled mine for the first time last week (light came on at 301 miles), it worked out at approx 29mpg, though it wasn't an exact brim-to-brim test (just to the 2nd click-off).

About half of that was motorway @75-ish, aircon on - the other half country lanes and B-roads ac off.
Pleased with that, coming from a 50th which needed filling at around 160 miles!

The car's only done 4K now - as it loosens up and I get better at changing gear (used to auto), maybe I can add another 1 or 2 mpg? Smile

Mrwoo - getting nearly 400miles on a 90's tank is impressive - presumably you drive some distance after the light has come on?
How many extra miles do you think you get with the light on?
(Mine lit up when the needle still showed about 1/8th of a tank, but I re-filled then as I was passing a garage).

I am still a little puzzled by some of the figures folk are quoting.

If you are re-filling at 301 miles with the light on, I assume that you are putting around 50-60 litres in?

Therefore......

60/4.545 = 13.20 gallons
301 miles/13.20 gallons = 22.8 mpg

55/4.545 = 12.1 gallons
301 miles/12.1 gallons = 24.8 mpg

50/4.545 = 11 gallons
301 miles/11 gallons = 27.4 mpg


Not trying to be awkward, just want to look at real world mpg which I reckon is going to be 22-27 mpg on average. Andy

A British imperial capacity measure equal to 4 quarts or 4.545 liters not 4.454 ,

Biggest error is down to what tyres you are running, My last few thousand has been with the 255/85's on,, so my trip is about right,, On standard tyres, you are in fact doing more miles than the trip says California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1
