Started the fitting this afternoon - only one rear door so far due to other more pressing problems - leaking roof on the house that was supposed to have been repaired last month
This is the route I took to fit the rear door seal. 1. Remove the door card - reason for this will become clear a bit later. 2. Drill out the pop rivets holding on the old bit of rubber strip - the original seal. Remove front rubber block - stuck on. 3. Fish out the bits of rivet now floating about in the bottom of the door (why the card was removed). 4. Enlarge exising holes where rivets were - an extra 1mm did the trick. 5. Paint holes and have a cup of tea. 6. Fit new seal using the five studs into the existing holes - they do just about line up. 7. Undo door stay so that you can get to the front door edge. 8. Drill holes in front and read door edge to take two new fixings and paint holes. 9. Clip last two fixings in, replace door stay and card. Job done 
I didn't put waxoyl in the door this time as the pressure spray was playing up, I will do it when I do the other doors. Only thing I need to check on a four door with the new seals is if the existing frame seal needs trimming at the rear for a proper fit, my door closes OK and there is no daylight showing so I will probably leave it as it is. Please feedback with emphasis on the front doors and the need to drill new holes front and back sides. A piccy would be handy!

Here you go. 1 x LR029307, LR029307 WEATHERSTRIP - DOOR - LOWER 1 x LR029308, LR029308 WEATHERSTRIP - DOOR - LOWER 2 x LR029309, LR029309 WEATHERSTRIP - DOOR - LOWER The rear doors are not interchangable so you have to order as above. |

Sorry naks. Didnt fully reply to you. I didnt bother checking with the local stealers.
I fitted the door seals today. I can say that it is a vast improvement to the original ones and has definatly made a diffenerce to road noise and from what I can see provides a far batter seal. It took me around an hour to change all the seals. I didnt bother taking off the door panels as I managed to just shake the doors to get the rivet pieces out. i also painted with primer. I would highly recommend doing this. |

I have also noticed on one of the new special edition models that the bodywork that mates with the new seal looks galvanized and not painted. I want to check next time at the dealers. Anybody else seen this?

Word of warning if you fit these new door seals - don't get Waxoyl near them, they deform.
Got round to putting the Waxoyl into the rear doors yesterday and sprayed a bit to much in, with the heat etc. where the Waxoyl dripped out the door drains and contacted the rubber it has badly deformed one. New seal on order tuesday

Waxoyl deforms most rubber. The first time I used it, it bubbled up my ole mans tarmac drive
 ruined the door rubbers on my SAAB and made the tyres blister! I still can't see how it is able to do this if it just has white spirit in it, maybe something else was present - the blisters/bubbles did go back down again thank god before my father came home! 
PS I have the old doors seals on mine, it came off the production line last August  |
