Thanks for that Zag - at least I now know it is not just something I did incorrectly.

The new seals certainly do the job and the good news (?) is the one that has deformed needed to be refitted as it was not forming a good seal on the bottom of the door. I drilled new fitting holes for the second one put on and that one does keep the water out - so far Laughing

Yep - you learn something new everyday.

Ordered up a replacement last night. Took the deformed seal off by unclipping it from it's fixings and cleaned off all signs of Waxoyl. Overnight it had regained 90% of it's shape. I'm going to experiment with it to see if I can cut new holes in the rubber to get a better fit where I know there was a slight water ingress - just so happens the ingress was where the rear water drain is and also where the rubber deformed badly, maybe a weakness ? If the mod works it will save me having to drill new fixing holes to get a better seal.

Done my front doors today, as well as a bit of a clean up, apply cavity wax and fit the seals.
They do fit on a TD5 too, look smart.

I applied a bit of silicoln seal to the back just to make a double sure seal.

What model year were these seals used??

I'm looking at a 2010 long distance and don't know which seals it has.

Post says 2011 but can they be applied to 2010 without much work??

The holes for the new seal studs are very slightly larger than the original fixing holes, 1 or 2mm tops.

To make the seal effective do not try and reuse the original fixing holes, especially at the back, the new seal needs to be taught. On my o/s rear, the first one I fitted, I just used the orignal holes and there is not enough tension to stop spray ingress. This one needs to be refitted properly. On the n/s rear I had to drill three new fixing holes and it is perfect.

Of course your vehicles may be different so try before you drill Thumbs Up


Not a hard or long job but a little bit of trial fitting and checking pays dividends.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but wouldn't it make more sense to poke new holes in the rubber seal, and re-seat the fixings than drilling more holes in the door considering they're made of Steel and the risk of rust? Confused

Tell me if I'm way off......

You can but the new holes in the seal will be to close to the original ones and the rubber will tear and the seal will part company with the door.

I tried this on my now experimental seal and it lasted 5 minutes.

Just fitted the new seals to my 2008 Puma. Had to drill out the existing pop rivets then open up the standard holes by 1mm. Two new holes for the edges and the new seal pops straight in to position. Job done.
