England 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
A quick question if anyone can help me?-

A few years ago I had my SVX treated with Dinitrol underneath and the coating has held up very well. There are now a few very small areas where the rust is just starting to come back through. The chap I used is around 100 miles away so not practical for me to pop back and get him to touch the bits up.

Is there something I can buy myself and reapply to the affected areas?Ive seen aerosols on sale but don't know which to get and if they can be used to 'touch up' the existing surface without preparation. 2009 SVX 90 Station Wagon

Grind, wire brush, sand paper back etc rust.
Treat with Dinitrol Converust RC900 aerosol.
Then a layer of Dinitrol LT (penetrant cavity wax to help adhesion) aerosol.
Then a final layer of Dinitrol 4941 Underbody Wax aerosol.

Supplied by Rejel.com. It will probably be about £35, the Converust and LT should last you a while and you may want a can or two more of the Underbody 4941 depending on how much you want to treat. Don,t forget to keep on top of your body treatments with ACF-50 with all the hidden bare metal beneath cappings and between fixed surfaces these are equally important and will rot a lot quicker than your chassis. Have fun Thumbs Up

Just to add, VERY important, get a proffesional mask with all the correct filters, especially for the Converust, you will be coughing up phlem in the morning from acid damaged lungs. Holding your breath and running away doesn,t cut it, nor do cheap masks or paper masks. Sadly even professional masks do not completwy protect you from the various products, my lungs are damaged long term, it,s part of the job similar to body shop paint sprayers. Converust is especially lethal!

Protectivemasksdirect.co.uk sell a range of masks full or half face. Roughly £70-80 depending on choice of mask. If half face wear goggles with the Converust!

You will need
Moldex P3R 9030 filters
Moldex 9400 EN 14387 filters which have four types of filter in one cartridge called A1,B1,E1,K1.

Ok - thanks for the info.

This job sounded straightforward but it sounds like it's best left to the professionals!

Any recommendations for anyone in Lancashire who could do this? 2009 SVX 90 Station Wagon

Don,t let me put you off, just rub back rust, then Converust, LT and 4941 allow to dry in between each spray. Thumbs Up

Check out 'Waddies' Hymer camper in my gallery I did yesterday, a very nice TDI and a Twisted 90 I have in at the moment. I have forgotten how to pics up on a post from the gallery already Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately i suspect I have lost the last ten odd years of pictures on photobucket. Like others I am not going to be held to ransom over my pictures. I maybe able to retrieve them but it would take a day to sort it all out, find another host etc etc. I have no interest in tech so motivation to do it is low especially at my busiest time of year Shocked

Probably the best thing would be to re do the guide as some of it needs updating and there is a lot more detail I can put into it. Products keep changing and need updating also. I am currently booked until November with some possible gaps at short notice so perhaps over the winter I can re-look at it with Martins help and maybe edit this thread down also. E.g. Non relevant posts and post repeating the same questions when the answers are already in the thread BUT not wanting to wade through so many posts is understandable.

EDIT it appears from what others are saying that you cannot get your old photo's back so that answers the question.

Hi Chris
Just a quick note to say thank you for the great job you did on my Discovery 4 last week, whilst we enjoyed a days exploring the Sussex countryside.

A long way to travel from the Peak District but worthwhile to get the job done thoroughly

All the best
Phil
