United Kingdom 2004 Defender 90 Td5 HT Belize Green
I'm looking for someone near Cambridge to do rust proofing work.... Nene Overland do it but it's WaxOyl only and I've read so much about Dinitrol that I'm inclined to go that way...

Anyone in Cambridge does this?

Or... is WaxOyl really just as good (I've heard differing opinions)

I had Dinitrol done at Far Corners in St. Neots, seemed to do a pretty decent job.

I think waxoyl is considered pretty old school these days. I'd go Dinitrol or maybe even look in to Buzzweld products. James

Good to meet you Rob and your 898 mile 90, especially as low mileage examples are getting so rare now. I forgot to take pictures once again but as this was an as new chassis and Rob is VERY particular (as I would be) about finish, we decided to use the Dinitrol clear Corroheat so that you can see the mint chassis through the clear coating. Dinitrol have recently also brought out a clear cavity wax called 'LT' which shows good results the idea being that you keep an eye on what is going on and it is much smarter of course. Far better than some rock hard or really thick under coatings which just cover rust as it rots the chassis unseen behind the thick layer.

Appreciate your care Zagato. It was quite an effort and cost for me with 2 days out of work, 2x trailer hires and fuel (the D3 is not economical towing a Defender) to use Chris and looking at these 'after' pics I took I just hope he actually did something Wink

Great pics Rob Very Happy now put her back in the garage with cotton wool before it rains Wink I am using a lot of the clear stuff on rebuilds, especially 60-90k Supra nut and bolt rebuilds. The guys want to show off how mint they are. I have used the same on my 40 year old SAAB 96 as that is also mint underneath.

TOP TOP job, looks factory original, but is actually rustproofed,...can't beat that.
That is a great product for an owner who keeps their chassis clean, & likes it to look original.
Presumably it will be just as effective as the more "visible" product.
Pickles.

Yes Dinitrol clear is just as rust proofing. As said it is for mint vehicles only usually, Morgan use it and I use it on nut and bolt restorations or anything that is VERY clean.

Great thing about my job is meeting really nice people from all walks of life... These guys were great and have got life sussed, especially living in Mauritius most of the year Cool

Not what you think from the picture above that is pretty much there only possession, they live for life not possessions, not even a house but they live life to the full!

Back to Defenders and this is a nice honest example owned by another good bloke who maintains his and 5 other Defenders at work including tractors etc.

Unfortunately i suspect I have lost the last ten odd years of pictures on photobucket. Like others I am not going to be held to ransom over my pictures. I maybe able to retrieve them but it would take a day to sort it all out, find another host etc etc. I have no interest in tech so motivation to do it is low especially at my busiest time of year Shocked

Probably the best thing would be to re do the guide as some of it needs updating and there is a lot more detail I can put into it. Products keep changing and need updating also. I am currently booked until October with some possible gaps at short notice so perhaps over the winter I can re-look at it with Martins help and maybe edit this thread down also. E.g. Non relevant posts and post repeating the same questions when the answers are already in the thread BUT not wanting to wade through so many posts is understandable.

EDIT it appears from what others are saying that you cannot get your old photo's back so that answers the question.
