Did the same today. Works like a charm, although I used cable ties which means no messy glues/silicones

Tis' indeed, thanks to Martin.
Certainly works, not a peep of noise from mine any more.
Makes driving in higher gears more of a pleasure.

Yeah, I think I didn't realise how much it was subtly annoying me! Cheers, David

Got the same problem and dealers cannot fix it. Took it back once and still the same rattle. Will now fix it myself. Thanks a lot. Thumbs Up

I can see why you did this, but I'm being a bit thick as to how - did you leave the cable ties undone as per your photo, acting as a buffer between the plastic and the metal?

All sorted now - obvious what the problem is once you take the lever off. Fixed with cable ties as per David' photo. A genuine 2 minute job! Thumbs Up

Now I need to find something to do with my left hand other than holding the gear stick. Thanks Tommy

Well, this was worthwhile, if not one of the best and easiest mods, thanks for that sitting in a vehicle for 600-800 kicks a day its a god send.

what are the symptoms of this problem? i have a high pitch metallic rattle coming from somewhere. could this be the weights on the gear stick?

Cheers Steve and David, did mine today as it had driven me mad on a trip back from Andorra to Blighty , used glue and cable ties, trimmed up, all is quiet now.
Getting the gaiter back on proved irksome at first as it was tight and I was worried I might split it. Idea So I then extended the gaiter fully out and inserted the bottom half of the gearstick front end and rotated clockwise thro 360 degrees, it slid straight in, then engaged the gearstick into place making sure it had located properly......job done Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up Mines still working perfect.
Reason I didn't go for ties was because it looks a little bodge like, even though it will work perfectly of course.
A good quality superglue will work perfectly and permanently and you'd never even notice it was done.

If you've done both though it's belt and braces and you'll never have a problem with it again.

Fantastic guide! The operation has been successful.

But, how, how on Earth goes the gaiter back where it's supposed to be?

Is there a trick to it?
