They do two versions (didn't notice the ceramic ones before??), one with ceramic connections and one with standard plastic connections, whats the advantage/disadvantage between the plastic and ceramic connections,as they are the same price?

I think the one with ceramic headlamp plug is very new on their site. I surely would have noticed it if it had been there before. The price is the same as the version with the AMP (what does that mean?) headlamp plugs, so seems an improvement at no extra cost.
I never have seen ceramic headlamp plugs, so wonder why they did this.
Your comparison link does not work for me, so here are the respective direct links to both versions.

I can only think its a heat thing, maybe more reliable in hotter countries, but how would ceramic cope with vibration, dunno??
I think AMP is a quality brand of electrical connectors. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

ceramic plugs are better for heat , I have seen the plastic ones melt but it's only when the metal tags inside are loose , people move the plug side to side to get off the bulb which spreads the tags open leaving them loose on the bulb and then they get hot

Emailed them yesterday to ask why. It's a heat thing, although they haven't had any problems, nearly everybody uprates their bulbs, plus a large number of customers fit 100w bulbs,so they jumping the gun before they have any issues, ceramic ones are also cheaper to make due to different or less fittings on the ceramic connectors (less labour intensive, thats what they said Question ) so it looks like plastic fittings may go up in price. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

New "heavy" earth on both relay and lights. Finally got round to finishing this mini project off.

Unless of course I can get hold of some ceramic H4 connectors......

trouble is the ceramic ones all come pre wired with a short wire so you have to have extra joints .

I prefer one length of wire

the plastic ones are ok ( on standard bulbs ) as long as they are tight if you change a bulb just tighten the tags when you refit

Does electricity not like joints? Should be okay if soldered no?

Even I'm partial to a joint

one wire looks neater , even though you cant see it
joints corrode , yes you can heat shrink and seal
joints put a stiff bit in the wire , make sure wires are long enough

just me being fussy really !!!

The company said ceramic wiring looms are cheaper/easier to produce so I assume they would utilise the pre-wired ceramic connector and just need to make one connection at the relay. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
