I've just fitted the Red Bison loom to my 110, & it's made a drastic difference to the lighting output.
In fact, the only time I've better lighting was when the voltage regulator failed on the alternator. 16v does tend to give superior lighting! Luckily, I didn't blow any bulbs. ![]() Never Raced or Rallyed |

Good idea thanks.
Not really wiring up anything at the moment. Got one of those mini fuseboxes with 12 positive terminals and a negative bus bar Going to put a couple of items currently wired to the cigarette lighter onto it ( couple of USB chargers) ![]() |

Just fitted a Landreiziger loom to my newish 2.2 - easy peasy.
Remove grille [in my case aircon], front indicator lamps, sidelamps, light surrounds, headlamps [inc bowls taking care not to disturb beam alignment screws], top radiator shroud. The twin Ripaults are relays mounted using one of the existing holes in the inside lip of the R/S wingtop via a clip on speed-nut and large self tapper. This location means the twin fuses are easily accessible. Prior to fixing the paint was removed from around the mounting hole and anti corrosion gel applied, the self tapper provides the - earth point. + feed taken from alternator, cable provided with additional conduit, looped and secured via cable tie using existing hole in steel wing support bracket. Harness runs behind airbox in additional conduit. Switching feed taken from existing R/S headlamp connector which are then wrapped in self amalgamating tape. L/S headlamp feed runs across top of intercooler tucked under plastic lip and into L/S headlamp. Now redundant original headlamp connector is wrapped in self amalgamating tape. Test & reassemble. Job done. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, apologies if it has.
I have been using the Red Bison loom for 3 months without any issues. Monday, no headlights at all, not even when flashed ![]() Tuesday they were working again without any intervention on my part. Today, they stopped again. Just checked the fuses and relays under the steering wheel, all OK. Had a play with the two relays in the RB loom and they had both come lose, enough to stop the headlights working. Pushed them fully home and I have lights again. I will have a good look this evening to see what is going on. Probably just need the female recptors closing a bit to get a better fit. if the relays have been removed at some time people always me included move relay side to side to remove also same with headlight connectors making the connection looser
just give the terminals a quick tweak with small screwdriver when refitting |
