Any idea why there is a picture of the light switch in the description? I couldn't get Google to translate the page.

Myself having a keen interest in mk1 golfs, I know the headlights have the same candle like output as defenders and there are quite a few upgraded looms for sale readily available on the evil bay and I presume with a little bit of wire lengthening for the battery terminals that these will be fine on defenders too. These could be a cheaper way of doing this job.

Ebay no: eBay Item No. 301072992245 for example

Any electricary experts with any thought?

It amazed me that I couldn't find an equivalent in the UK or Germany - I doubt it has a patent Whistle Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I've just looked at the one on Devon 4x4 and as I posted earlier I think the mk1 golf versions (with the battery terminal wires extended) should work just the same and at a third of the price.

when I done mine I used 4 relays ,2 each side fitted right behind headlight to keep length of wires to minimum and neater has its all behind headlight out of site ( apart from heavy feed wires to relays ).
also I used the offside and nearside headlight wiring to control the relays .
if your only using wires from one side to control both headlights through the relays then if that one side plays up you lose both headlights .
chances of it happening pretty slim I suppose . but I choose to use both sides

It looks the job but perhaps not as tough - the dutch one has cable sheaths and the connectors look better quality. Mind you, it's 10 quid cheaper Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Merlin, they do 2 kits, one with a new switch, one without.
I recommend this kit too, it's nicely made and like the other chaps here I couldn't find anyone selling a suitable kit in the UK.

Yes - the kit advertised on the newer webpage for 52,50 Euros includes a new switch (I hadn't noticed). When I bought it, it was just the harness Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

One last note - I just extended the earth cable to reach a convenient point on the engine block. Tapping onto the HeatShock earth on the bodywork was bad practice (I know Rolling Eyes ) and causing a poor earth Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I'm looking at doing this and whilst it's pretty simple to knock this loom up, for the money it costs from our Dutch friends, it's hardly worth it.

The one concern I have with this kit is that fuse seems to be be close to the relay box rather than the battery terminal, is this correct or am I looking at it wrong?

If so, I think I'd rather connect the + into a fuse near the battery than have a live un-fused cable running into the engine bay? Craig Rogers

Yes - there are two 30A fuses in waterproof enclosures, one for each light, next to the relays. I also thought about moving/adding to them but since they are easy to get to in the engine compartment and I'm both optimistic and lazy, I didn't Whistle

Have fun,

The harness from NL is supposed to be connected to the rear of the alternator. This is virtually impossible on the Puma without major dismantling, hence the need to go back to the battery. If connected to the alternator then the fuses are very close to the connection. On mine I put a 40amp in-line fuse in the mains feed to the relays and also ran the lead on its own . On pre-Puma models you can connect to the alternator easily.
As long as the +tve extension cannot earth, due to sharp bends or rubbing away insulation! there should be no problem. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

I ordered a harness with light switch from Landreiziger.... Now they ask me which light switch I need, the one with the white connector or with the brown connector.....
Anybody knows which one I should select for a Puma 2.4 model year 2009?
Tks, Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
