Has anyone fitted these seals to an older Defender where the original seal was on the floor and not on the door?

I'd like to know that aswell. I replaced the seals on the floor already but there are some mighty big gaps in the corners...

They will fit all models with the pressed door frames with round corners but not those on earlier 90's & 110's which had welded frames and square corners. Steve.

Is there any possible noise reduction with these? No Guts, No Glory.

I have a 2000 and although my door frames are welded, it is tempting to give these seals a try. The older model seals fitted on mine is simply useless and all dried out. The fit may not be perfect with these newer seals on a 2000 but the shape of the door seems to be similar to the new ones although not quite as smooth... Anybody else has tried to fit them on a welded up door frame?

They do fit older doors too. I fitted the drivers side yesterday and about to do the passenger side now. Relatively easy fit - could be done in about 15 mins - but I ended up rubbing down and painting the door frames etc so took most of the day.

Not had a chance to drive it yet so dont know if they make any difference to noise or drafts but they do fit.

And Ibexman - yes just whip off the dowel in the door stay and there is easy access to the front corner.

I'd like to fit new seals, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the various types. Hopefully one of you pro's can set me straight.

I recently bought a reconditioned 200tdi 110. The dealer fixed the rusted out door bottoms prior to purchase. However, they did not use any plastic liner material behind the door cards. Further, I don't see any drain holes in the bottom that folks have mentioned in previous posts. Most of all they leak like a sieve. I get water running down the interior side of the seal and onto the floor board. The seals themselves are twisted and battered. I know I need new ones, I'm just not sure which ones are best. My truck currently has the riveted on bottom seal attached to the body vice the door.

Should I...

1.) Buy some allmakes seals
2.) Fit them with some silicone
3.) Add a plastic liner to the inside of the door card
4.) Drill some drain holes into the bottom of the door frame and waxoyl the cavity
5.) Remove the riveted bottom seals from the body.
6.) Fit some of these new style seals to the door?

I upgraded mine at the weekend. I found the cheapest place to get them was at the Land Rover dealer. £55 for the 2 seal after cheekily asking if there was any discount for knowing the part number Smile

As usual, details written up in my blog.

Hi All!

Reviving this thread as I noticed gaps in my door seals, as in I can see light coming in! I think this is also where outside odors come in for us to enjoy at times. Mad

In any case, mine is also a MY2011 but the seals look nothing like the ones in the post. Previously, the gaps were closed with rubber cubes the previous owner stuck on but I've lost a few already as evidenced by the light and external odors coming in. Left side inner front carpet is wet too from what I think is spray that gets in when passing through water.

Are the part numbers posted on this thread still accurate? Seeing as these seals are different, I'm thinking of changing them all out. So I need front and rear seals, are there updated Safari door seals as well?

Thanks!

They are the right reference. I changed my old ones today to the new style. I can still see daylight in one of the rear door front corners, though. This is frustrating as I thought it would take care of the issue for good! The seal seems to pull up as the door closes, which creates the gap.

Anyone had that issue before? The other three doors look fine.
