Successful conclusion! After purchasing powerfukuk’s 10 inch to 11.4 brackets and wiring kit (they wouldn’t sell just the wiring adapter), I installed the adapter and plugged it in to the appropriate input. I then used my GAP tool to change the CCF to the 11.4 setting. Unfortunately the screen stayed dark. I also tried the 13 inch setting with no success. I reverted back to my original plug and changed the CCF to the 10 inch setting. The screen came back to life although it still had the “stretched” look. I contacted the vendor (through the Alibaba app) to find out what was needed for them to update my screen. They indicated that I needed a windows computer with an Ethernet port and either TODESK remote software or TeamViewer. To tell you the truth, I was a little nervous about about turning over complete control of my computer and my Defender to someone on the other side of the planet; however, I decided to go forward. I ensured my battery was fully charged (kept my CTEK connected). Connected my laptop to the Defender and told them to begin. After they took control of my laptop the Defender behaved just like it was being updated with the GAP tool. After about five minutes we were done with the programming. I was presented with a blank screen! I was asked to scroll up from the bottom of the screen and a menu came up showing a selection for a 10 inch screen. I was instructed to tap on selection until it showed 11.4. I then was directed to shutdown the car, lock it and wait 15 minutes. After the time elapsed (it seamed like hours) I climbed back into my seat and started the car. Success! All screen functions were in perfect resolution. Would I do it again? Absolutely! I originally wanted to upgrade to a 11.4 inch OE screen but noted that no one seems to have successfully upgraded a new screen with the GAP tool and I wasn’t successful at hunting down a good used screen through eBay. I took a chance with AliExpress specifically WIMAFUN Manufacturer Store and couldn’t be happier.

So... 13.1 upgrade DONE!!!

but, I used a USED Range Rover Sport screen, so not brand new, I guest has coded for Range Rover Sport...

and is a "destructive" method... you need to cut some trims, at lease to install in the way I prefer, there is a kit (powerfull) to do it in not destructive way Laughing

so first test used screen is working. IMPORTANT, need to add the 2 adittional power wires (PINS 6 and 7):

connect, change CCF, multican 641, couple of reboots and voila:

after check everything is working, all images are good, defender model, not RRS!!!... then to finish installation, enter in destructive way... we need to adapt one plastic piece first:

cut some space for connectors (in orange) and made new holes to use plastic trim from 11.4 in 13.1 screen: (yes, I do 2 more than I needed.. I take wrong lenght)

I need to check lenghts several times, (the idea is keep same bottom position, I add 2 mm to get more space) but at the end I got plastic trim as I wanted (yes, I do 2 more than I needed.. I take wrong lenght):

Ok, now I can install screen. but upper trim need some work.... more or less you need to remove this area:

I user a multy tool, first separate the fabric from plastic, and use a piece of metal to avoid cutting fabric, so at the end:

put upper trimm and that's all!!!

If some of you are interested in my previous 11,4 screen... check for sale area Whistle

Cheers!!!

I'm now the proud owner of the GAP IID tool and this is on my wish list.
I know that screens from other JLR models will work, but is there a concise list of part numbers for the screens that do work?
Looking at ebay there seems to be loads of screen but I'm not sure which to buy, it could work out quite expensive if I keep buying the wrong screen 110 D250 SE HT
110 USW SOLD
RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it
VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys

Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD

Thanks for all this valuable info Thunderbob. I was also looking at AliExpress option considering size and the fact it comes with pre wired adaptor and mounts. You mentioned in an earlier post that the screen only powers on when the vehicle is running. So no screen power up on just entry to vehicle and such. Was this still the case once you had it coded correctly? I have a v4 Gap tool already was this what you used for your original coding that did not work?

Beautiful job Clark4x4! Thanks for sharing all this info. I'm also reviewing options to upgrade and your posts have been very helpful.

@lost cause The screen powers on and off exactly like the OEM screen;

there is no difference. When I used my Gap tool (v4 with latest firmware) the screen acted just like it would if I had the wrong screen size entered in the CCF ie like the screen was not powered on. When I reverted back to the original CCF setting the screen powered on albeit with the slightly stretched display. When the vendor made the change’s remotely via my laptop, I could change the resolution via the screen change as shown on my original post. No need to change the wiring or use an adapter. Not as satisfying as @Clark 4x4 solution but much easier and the end result essentially the same.

Thanks for the reply ThunderBob. So just to be 100% clear even before starting the ignition when you get in the vehicle the after market screen will power up to the land rover splash screen? if so this is awesome news. Makes me wonder if there is an additional value besides the screen size in the config file that is being changed by the vendor of the screen. If size is the only setting for an OEM screen to make it work one would assume. Sorry for all the questions I do have one more. When getting the vendor to remote in to make the changes are they always available or do you setup an appointment.

Thanks for all the great information in this thread.

I've been on the same journey over Christmas. I bought a brand new 11.4" screen from a supplier in the UK. I did the coding using the my IID Tool, but I was not able to get the screen to coded. Coding and "hacking" Defender is not a big thing here, I think as it's a very small market for this type of car here.

I've just had it with the local Land Rover workshop, and they were also not able to get it coded straight away. They'll try it again using one of their newer Defenders that were "born" with the 11.4" screen (it was unfortunately out).

I'm also in dialog with GAP about how to possibly solve this, in case the dealer comes back unable to do it.

Mounting the screen with the Powerful UK custom bracket as a breeze though - I can really recommend this as it seems very easy to use.

hello,
When you buy a NEW screen it must be programmed with Pathfinder or topix cloud, tools that the land rover dealer has.
For programming it is necessary that you FIRST tell the car that you have an 11.4 screen, (with the Gap tool you modify ccf), then THEN you go to the dealership with the new screen installed, connect topix cloud, idma-interactive display module A, module programming, module replacement, run, and it performs the correct programming.
