Mine has rattled for as long as Ive owned it, standard OE clutch. I've had a couple of people tell me the rattling is not always the clutch. It can be from the gearbox. Don't know how true it is, but they were both mechanics that said it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I have a Clutchfix HD one, maybe 12000 miles on it now, but despite not having had any really hard use it makes a rattle worse than the original when everything is hot. Seems OK when cold.

Can't say I would bother again, but having pre-emptively fitted one new HD clutch "so I wouldn't have any problems" (ha) I don't intend to take the gearbox out again to do the same.

My LOF one did the same but has slowly settled down and rarely rattles the transmission now, although I had my idle adjusted up a tad which helped DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

The springs on the friction plate can often be culprit, as can the gearstick selector.
In mine the LR one was broken, the nylon ball had cracked.

Since then I bought a Shift R from TMD. That’s really nice, no more issues there with that never been so nice to go through the gears nice and smoothly.
They aren’t cheap, but well made. Thumbs Up NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Hopefully this'll get the job done. Transit 4x4 arrived this morning.

Thumbs Up Please let us know how you get on, I really like it on mine drives nice with a good bite and low slip.

LR’s offering I never had any luck with multiple generations of them, they just got a little bit better, though some had good luck, I found they did far less miles than I’d have expected. NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Presumably you are doing the slave etc. as well. If so I’d consider getting the pioneer4x4 clutch line. It’s a much nicer solution than the Ford junk. WARNING.

The garage is fitting and supplying everything else, it's just they haven't done a transit clutch in a Defender before so asked me to get it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I’m assuming the pioneer4x4 line makes it easier to bleed as the standard line goes up and down several times, allowing airlocks to be created and making it a real pig to bleed sometimes.

For those who do not care about the rattle of a non LR Puma OE spec clutch disc, you can get a Ford V8 from the 60s for peanuts. Same diameter, same splines, same height etc Puma 110" SW

The gearstick can rattle. Next time you hear a rattle put your hand on the gearstick. If that stops the rattle just replace the gear stick. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I glued those vibrating weights in place years ago Thumbs Up The noise I had was definitely from the transmission. The suggestion to me is that one of the shafts in the gearbox can rattle as well as the clutch. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Good idea about the weights. Just thought it was an easy thing to diagnose if you had not already tried it. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

That is the idea of the central dumper of the original cutch disc. A very cheapo way LR avoided a DMF design. Some may say DMF is a bad idea, but they work very well in other car brands. Puma 110" SW

Seconded....also find it very heavy on engagement. It's by no means a 'smooth, subtle, finessed' clutch. Also with you on not planning to change it, hopefully ever again. Might check gearstick just to be sure. Monsieur Le Grenadier
