Good God. Some of those quotes are eye watering. If my next renewal is £7K I will be selling the truck.

I wonder how these insurance issues with the LR name are affecting residual prices? I realise RR Sports in the Greater London area are an issue, but this seems to be all models

I today received a letter telling me that the insurer of my S1 86" was "unable to offer renewal terms". Big Cry I hadn't expected the madness to affect S1s. The letter arrived today, the insurance expires on Monday, I was not impressed.

However after a hour on the phone my broker has managed to renew on identical terms albeit for a 25% increase in premium. Inexplicably this is actually with the same insurer who was unable to offer renewal terms!

It makes you wonder just what the hell is going on in the world of insurance!

A Plan (Howden) renewal just came through for me still less than £600 with mods declared.

So I am happy enough, in fact Howdens now have my daily and caravan as well although different branches for each! DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Agree! What is going on.

If these insurance companies spent less on trying to get new business, and just kept their current customers happy, don’t you think it would make more sense.

Most businesses find working for repeat customers, or having a core base of customers is so much easier than trying to find new work all day every day - unless you are an insurance company where you seem to go out of your way to alienate your existing customers. A mad business model.

The renewal invitation for my 2007 double-cab has just come from Adrian Flux, with a hike from £440.37 last year to £851.77 this year. Shocked

Compare the Market for the nearest equivalent cover produces 27 quotes, 22 of which are less than AF, the lowest being Hastings Direct at £373.77. Very few are from mainstream insurers, however and all fail to provide equivalent cover (all have substantially greater excesses, most exclude windscreen cover, etc).

A call to AF inviting a reassessment reduced the quote to £826.77, so a small move in an encouraging direction.

The weird thing is that my Disco2 is also insured with AF, and the renewal for that was actually lower this year than last.

The mods and the mileage seem to be the killers for my situation (I've stated 18k miles per year). If it was factory standard and I drove 5k or fewer miles I could massively reduce the cost.

Investigations so far reveal that AF has actually found a pretty good deal (and it's only 2/3 the price of a main dealer service after all).

There was an article on You and Yours on Radio 4 this lunch time. The consensus of opinion was that insurance won't keep leaping up in price like it has been, should level out and might reduce a little over the next few years, but don't expect big reductions.

I wasn't sure whether to take that as good news or whether to hold my hands in my head and cry?

I have a 2015 Defender 90, and my insurance became difficult to sort. In the end, I asked for a quote from LandRover from their web site, and it was the best quote by some distance. It is a very good cover too. I would suggest it is worth a try.
