With all the talk of the nipple's on the prop shafts i had to go out and check to see what i had got or not got at the same time i decided to grease the front and rear props, i got a good amount in
The front prop has the 3 nipples The back prop has 2 nipples, is this correct ? ? I have not got the Castrol grease yet, but it is on the list to get http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic61560.html 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Front and rear should have three each, one per uj and one for the slider.

Where was the missing one UJ's or slider? I'm guessing the latter but could be wrong.
I had one missing on the front on a UJ and one missing on the rear on a UJ. The front slider nipple was not loose but appeared only half threaded on, and appeared as if it was fitted like that too. I cannot have any way of knowing, if I lost them or they were ever fitted on the .UJ's. My guess is I lost them, at some point, somewhere. There was talk that some were missing from the factory though! No Guts, No Glory.

When i had finished my T ( grub ) i went out and had a good look to see if i could find the missing nipple after all off 10 seconds, i found it, so all greased up now and well happy that i have 3 nipples on the back prop as well as the front one 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Best way, if theyโre missing is when you could have a massive risk of ingress. So all good, least you wonโt have to mess with them No Guts, No Glory.

Click image to enlarge A clue i hear you say, so here it is .......................................... Click image to enlarge Yes i drove up to VGS to have Dav put and wire in the heated windscreen as i have not time to do this and he showed me how to work it all ok What a great chap Dav is, a really nice chap and the 2 hours that i was there went by very quickly So i am waiting to test it when the weather changes, all in all i had a great day 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. A great mod and well worth doing I finally wired mine up before last winter (even though I put the screen in about three years ago) and it was great with no more scraping ice off in a morning Ray

Today i had a chance to change over my light covers in the pick up part as they were getting worse, one more than the other .................................
Click image to enlarge After taking the covers off, the one on the N/S was the worse as the way i carry/fix my laid that goes in the back had worn it through ............................................ Click image to enlarge So what i had done is got 2 more covers, it is hard to get a pair of covers that the one on the O/S has not got a hole in for i assume for the electric wire's to go through I had painted them and my idea was to put wood on them as just putting metal on again would ware and the laid would slide from side to side still, with the wood on it should dig in a little and not move very much and if/when it does, the wood can be changed with no problems The first pic is with the bottom lip still on which has to come off as i have got CP all in the back ................................ Click image to enlarge With the lip cut and smoothed off ................................................................. Click image to enlarge The next pic is them fitted in and i ran some clear silicon around the edge's to keep them water tight, this has worked a treat as i have always used this method .......................................... Click image to enlarge The last pic is to show you how the laid is carried/fixed when not in use .............................................. Click image to enlarge The change over went like a dream and i'm very pleased with the outcome 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Beefed up front ends like L110CDLs and mine, make people think twice about pulling out on you at the last min. Many times i have had the look at me, when people have took their chance and realised i am not slowing down.
