I feel for you mate. L/R Stratstone told me 'absolutely nothing wrong with your vehicle' couple of days ago (you'll see my tale of woe elsewhere on site), I've just been under her with Japseroony and guess what - a huge oil leak from around the transfer / gear box. Loads of super clean clear oil all over exhaust etc plain to see. So Tatstones mustn't have even looked underneath. I like you love the car, but just want it to work. Was going to try and find an email for L/R but reading above looks like I will be back on the phone. Oh well might get the HSE Disco again.........every cloud....... Have they sorted you a decent hire car? Oh and received a customer service survey about the breakdown / dealer interaction - thats going to be a blast filling in!!!! Good luck mate. I have got to agree with you on this ! You have to get the dealer on side failure to win over these people will cost in the long term and create a living hell I live in South Yorkshire and travelled over a hundred miles to buy mine just because I knew that when it goes wrong I would get their full support ! Maybe we should list dealers good and bad then prospective customers can make their own informed decisions ! There are no laws dictating that you have to have it serviced or repaired at the place of purchase either so a owner could litteraly take it anywhere for servicing. Just a thought folks ! Just got mine back after it broke down again. They say it is now fixed and does not knock in the mornings, they told me it was water in the fuel again but it has already had the fix for that (off the road for three weeks doing it) so I am not convinced. still it got the 25 miles home without breaking down which is something.

The boy,
I hope that you have better luck this time. Really, I love this car but has been in the workshop for guarantee more than any other car that I had (at least 4 times in less than a year) That's not good for the LR reputation Mine is OK until now after the rear door were changed due a crack around 1 month ago, but other minor faults are still not solved 100%. What sticks in my throat is that my old 200tdi i had for about eight years only broke down once in all the 1000s of miles I did and all that was, was a hole in the radiator while going over the Pyrinees. Still maybe this is the turning point

Its a pity to hear that and I understand you. Its fustrating when the dealer said "all as been cleared" and the same thing happens again and again. May be a dealer change can help. Did you have some feedback from LR? For me turning point is still far away. An old 200TDi is not an alternative: that can fail more frecuently than the Puma without guarantee and I cant use it (I live in the Metropolitan area were the 200Tdi are not allowed due emissions). A TD5 maybe, but buy a good one can be a lottery and also no guarantee. Also as a family of 6, I dont like the rear seat bench for safety reasons. As far as LR guarantee can solve the problems I will be with the Puma. But if the motor start to be broken and broken again probably I will come back the car to LR or ask for a brand new one. Well I dropped my 110 puma into my local dealers yesterday to have the new engine installed under warranty.
Am very concerned now - I had to return to the garage as I left my phone in the truck, only to see the 110 up on a lift with the oil draining out of her and 4 mechanics standing around looking confused underneath Me - Hi lads , do you know what your doing , joking !! Mechanic - No. We have never replaced this engine before !! Me - Holy , you dont have a spare TD5 knocking around that you could fit instead Mechanic - laugh ! Now I am seriously worried - reckon I haven't seen the last of the problems with this car Anyone know if I am entitled to a new 3 year warranty on the new engine ? Nidge. |

No All parts replaced are back dated to when the car was delivered to the customer. |

Unless fitted in the last few months when you get 12 months warranty on the part. Mike |

My 08 makes a loud diesel knock noise, when cold and after driving a short distance. If you lift of the throttle and continue to accelerate this noise stops.
Is this the knocking noise we are talking about or just as I presumed a common rail diesel knock. Your views are appreciated, Edd 1999 90 TD5 County 1943 Ford GPW Jeep Last edited by Edd80Inch on 25th Oct 2008 9:03am. Edited 1 time in total |
