when I read about this on the forum I thought I would check mine out , I removed headlight left it hanging on the wires, switched them on and used a power probe to give extra power to the headlight on the connector on the back with power taken from the battery that way I could see the different amount of light ouput and giving it the extra power by switching power probe on and off giving it the extra voltage without voltage drop of defender wiring,,

really does make a big difference relaying the feeds to headlights

So an envelope arrived from China today with my £7 eBay harnesses, great just in time for the weekend. I had ordered four sets, using separate ones each side for me and StephenO. Very Happy Very Happy

My excitement was short lived though........ This was what turned up

They look well made and although I ordered 2 I think I'll only use one. I'll swap the relays though.

Thumbs Up

Is everybody who recently have installed this upgraded loom from Landreiziger, Holland happy with the end result?
I also bought this loom, and the truck goes later this week to the dealer for some maintenance and other warranty work, and they also intend to install this loom then. I showed the Landreiziger loom to them earlier today, and they say that the only thing that needs to be done is to extend the permanent live cable, so that power can be taken directly from the battery.

Why do you want to extend to the battery if you have already a permanent live on the starter motor and altenator? Roel

Hi Roel, mk1,

It was a bit of a rush rush discussion abt this loom at the dealer today amidst of talking about a bunch of other jobs they will have to do this wed-fri.... May well be that the battery connection was even brought up by myself, so wednesday I will mention the alternator and starter motor connections you mention here.
Just one thing, I want to be able to turn at least the sidelights on without having the key in the contact, so hope that the live to the alternator indeed is a permanent live. I guess the starter motor live is not really permanent, only comes on with the key in/contact on, no?

So truck came back from the dealer friday with the "Landreiziger" headlights loom installed. They made one change, in order to be sure to have a good earth, they cut and extended the black earth wire, and connected it as in below picture, believe that is on top of the airco compressor.
Dealer mechanics commented that this loom indeed is a good solid piece of kit, and when I mentioned the price to them they were very surprised. (certainly as they are used to Swiss prices Laughing)
So I guess I will never have the use the spare light switch which I bought together with the loom from Landreiziger as a package deal. Goes in the spare parts storage. Thumbs Up

Not only you DaveT who didn't get their harness. I ordered mine in January (and paid) and then when I complained in March the vendor said he would send a "replacement" harness. This arrived in a week. I had to wait as fleebay said the order was still within timescale as the vendor kept moving the delivery date.

Oddly the wiring only allows either the dip or full beam on at once. Whereas the standard set-up is that you can 'flash' while on dip and have all 210 watts showing. This is different but is it a bad thing?

should all work the same if triggers are taken from original wiring
