Gave it a bit of a wash, polish and wax this week so it looks a bit shiny and also finished tinting the back three windows today just as a stop gap till I save my pennies for masai ones probably next year.
Click image to enlarge Also fitted none rusty tow bar and rear crossmember bolts so it looks a little tidier! Cheers for looking Ray Last edited by mk1collector on 11th Sep 2017 4:09pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Looks very good, id do the wheels black as above or at least change that center cap
Im considering another defender with silver chequer plate and would want to change it to black as you have done, did you paint it or powdercoat it on or off the car? and wondered how its holding up. Cheers Tom Defender puma dormobile camper |

Cheers chaps the wheels are going black in the next few weeks when I get the new tyres The chequer plate was taken off, blasted, zinc coated and powder coated and is holding up perfectly (although it only been on a year) I've still got quite a few plans but I've only got a couple of things to do before we drive to France in August and the rest will have to wait till we get back or next year.

Did you use the LR ones for the rear? Bit of rubber tube that slides on the coil or did you use pads like the fronts?
Did it make a decent difference? |

Yeah I used the rubber tube bits. Although I did use two on each (one top and one bottom) when it only came with the top from factory, which had gone very hard and brittle. After cleaning up the springs and also replacing the spring retainers (as the originals had both snapped on one side) and replacing the damper top nuts as I found the threads on the nut were stripped by whoever replaced them last it made a massive difference and my annoying rattley noise seems to have gone I'm hoping it makes as good of a difference at the front and maybe level out a little the standard nose down stance of the 110.

Not great pics but I've been busy doing the first side today.
Click image to enlarge Will have to do the other side tomorrow or during the week then see if it's made a difference Ray Last edited by mk1collector on 11th Sep 2017 4:05pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Finished the second side of the front suspension today but haven't had time to test drive it yet. Only a couple of jobs left to do before the trip now. I've just won a sump off ebay to replace the one that the previous owner had tapped out the sump plug hole so when it gets it's "garage service" in a couple of weeks, I'll let them put the new sump and femco drain plug on while it's in
