So, the new bumper was bolted on when dry and the wing chequer plate and A bar were powder coated and everything was bolted on apart from the spots as I've taken them apart to fit a new lens and a full clean up. She's booked in next week to have the two head lamp panels and drivers door painted then I can get on with some other bits
As she stands at the mo. Click image to enlarge Ray Last edited by mk1collector on 10th Sep 2017 10:04pm. Edited 1 time in total |

As I've got no big jobs planned on the house for a while I've taken the roof rack off and gained an extra 5 to 10 miles per tank (depending on driving) which is good I've also removed the rear window grills and fitted some forward facing rear seats but not Landrover or exmoor ones as I didn't like the belt and mounting setup. So it looks completely standard from the outside now but I've got a bit of tidying up of paint planned and a few add ons over the next few months before the trip to France in August then I can start playing with it a bit after that

Click image to enlarge So this was the last pic I got before she disappeared to a local garage for a month with a head gasket leak and a starting/running problem she broke down five times on this little trip to get me some new wellies and with the kids in the car and the amount of snow we had enough was enough!!! But I've had her back a couple of weeks now and what a difference I put an egr blank on while in the garage and loe low down pull is now lovely. So this is her now Click image to enlarge As you can see the spots are back on, she's had a wash and I've finally figured out the previous owners bodge that was stopping the horn and rear wash working properly. In the next few weeks I'm going to pick up some goodies from Brendan on here so there should be some more progress soon and I've got a few more plans before the end of the year so keep tuned Ray Last edited by mk1collector on 10th Sep 2017 6:58pm. So, I've been a little busy with my 110. First off all the rear seats and trim came out so I could seal up all the built in gaps and leaking points from lr then came the dynamat
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Once the deadening was done a layer of closed cell foam was put over the top and rubber mats were put over the top( including the nakatanenga load mat from Brendan) and all the trim etc was replaced. Click image to enlarge The under cubby safe (again from Brendan) and relocated handbrake lever was next. Click image to enlarge I ve also started fitting air con but that will be finished after I come back from holiday (hopefully) and last but not least today I've just received the new clutch spring kit from Simon (mps trading) and fitted it this afternoon so the drive to France should be more pleasant. Still to come are some tinted windows that don't rattle and after the holiday a few mods for winter but ill update on those later. Sorry for the million pics Cheers Ray Last edited by mk1collector on 10th Sep 2017 7:01pm. Edited 1 time in total |

you have been busy. DVD player next?!
It would be rude not to after all that sound proofing. How do you find the under cubby safe? Is the arm rest now the right height or gone the other way and ended up too high? |

Ha ha, DVD player will have to wait until I've done all the roof and upper sides with sound deadening and closed cell but I think one is definitely on the cards. As for the cubby safe, it's made the cubby perfect for resting my arm on but now I'm going to have to buy a new cubby as I'd forgotten how tatty it was and I don't think it's an original lr one anyway as its a bit long |

Thank you, the handbrake move is pretty easy (it only took me a couple hours) and you can use an RRC handbrake but make sure you have the right one, or a disco 1 lever. There's a thread in the maintenance and mod section with a link to reedx with a good write up of the job. I'd link you too it but I don't know how, sorry Ray |

Well I'm off on my hols soon so figured I'd lose the weight of the tow bar for the trip as it getting blasted and re-powder coated some time after I get back. So today off it came and at the same time I re-bolted the rear step back on securely without the rubbish rivnuts and I also relocated the tow electrics to the hole in the rear cross member. In the past week she's also been in for new swivel housings and bearings, wheel bearings, new front callipers, discs and pads and a full service with diff lock evo 1 oil in the gearbox to make it a bit smoother so hopefully she will be in good health for the drive to France.

Enjoy your holiday ray. It sounds like the defender is ready for it. I got back yesterday after 2200 miles without any problems. In fact, it was raining on the last day so we cancelled our last overnight stop and came back from Le Mans all in one. Even fully loaded and the rack and roof tent, she still managed 25 to the gallon at 70 mph!
