I squirt a touch of ACF50 in mine. Seems to do the trick.

It doesnt convert the rust like say Kurust does but seems to form a barrier/repellent to water and prevent it.
The difference between ACF50 and normal oil is that it seems to hang around. You can tell I'm an expert on rust prevention!

How did you direct the spray into each rivet? Can you spray like say, WD40? |

I did mine with a little spray bottle, and for the hard to get at parts a small paint brush will work the ACF-50 into the area. I think in the UK you can get aerosol cans with the little red tube that will get the ACF-50 into the rivet holes. We can only get the 4ltr containers of the stuff here.

ACF50 I don't think will remove the rust stain.
I had rusty rivets like that changed under warranty. Suggest doing that then make sure you keep on top of the ACF50. |

Cool... I thought about steel wool but seeing it's in the Stealers I might as well get them to replace. And then ACF the rivets going forward from there.

Yep, in the UK you can buy it in an aerosol so a quick squirt and then mop up with a cloth after. 2016 D4 HSE

To apply spots of ACF50 you can get these splendid disposable pipettes from amazon:

When I replaced the triangle panels on mine I put new closed rivets in and then with a small brush (model painting brush) I painted the heads of the rivets with clear lacquer (auto paint 2pac type) about 4 coats and painted in the hole of the rivet and no more steaks...... Yet anyway

So my rear cross member is rusting.
What is best the best thing to treat the rust with prior to repainting the cross member ? |

I will be using Dinitrol afterwards but wanted to know what rust inhibitors people have used.
Loads out there but wondered which one is best. |
