Just finished doing mine over the last few days this week while the weather was warm and dry. I used POR15 wherever I could get a brush and then the black Dinitrol on top and the brown cavity wax in every chassis hole I could get at Exclamation

Wheel arches where done only in the black underbody wax and it's covered very well. Bulkheads cavity waxed and rear of the rear x member now looking like new again having used both cans. I did every panel underneath with the black wax I could and masked all the key items I wanted to keep clear.

Really pleased with the final result which should provide protection for many years to come. A very big thanks to Zag for the guide and others who have gone before and posted pictures. Makes it as easy as possible.

Have to say its one of the most messy jobs I have ever done on a car but worth the effort. Mask, goggles and over suit is essential and even then it gets where it shouldn't Embarassed I'm sure my scalp now has more wax on it than any of the cars I have ever owned Rolling with laughter

Long been a fan of Dinitrol ( used on previous Caterhams) but now also a real fan of ACF 50.

If only LR would do the job properly when building them. It would make all this particular 'owner experience' unnecessary Evil or Very Mad

I too have done mine with Dinitrol over the last week or so. Done exactly the same thing as you pretty mcuh> And agree very very messy especially the under body wax! Shocked
Today I did the internals and this is the reason you need safety gear:

Good job Vizsla, you sound like me painting yours with POR-15 Laughing Thumbs Up Yeah very mucky doing it, top tip is to wear a baraclava and put a layer of grease/cream or something on any areas of exposed skin. It still takes 3 showers and getting it out of your hair - forget it Evil or Very Mad

Doing SGH's 130 on saturday with a compressor so I'm off to the charity shop to buy a nice double breasted suit, wellies and a trilby that I can throw away when I'm plastered in it Crying or Very sad Did think about a dress but I havn't met SGH before and I've heard about these Sussex boys Shocked

Well my 130 got the Zag & SGH Dinitrol and ACF50 treatment yesterday and what a messy job but totally worth it.

We got through...

4 x 1ltr Cans ML3125 Cavity wax
4 x 500ml Aerosol ML3125 Cavity Wax
11 X 1ltr 4941 Cans Body Wax
9 X 500ml 4941 Aerosol Body Wax
1 X 500ml ACF50 Aerosol
1 X 400ml RC900 Aerosol Rust Converter

Oh and I had the throw away my shirt, socks, and trousers afterwards as SWMBO would not let me put them in the washing machine Laughing

Zag was white when he arrived I don't know if it was the sun but he was certainly a few shades darker when he left Laughing

Enjoyed doing it in company for a change SGH Thumbs Up

Found a great way of getting Dinitrol out of your hair, scrub with a hair brush with two washes of fairy liquid in very hot water, either that or go get yourself a number one! Fairy worked well on face and arms with a pan scrub also Very Happy

Think SGH's 130 has got to be one of the best in the country, high individual spec and still less than 3000 miles, rust free of course Wink

SGH sprayed the rear crossmember with Dinitrol rust convertor which sets like a varnish. We are going to see how well it stands up to the job as it could be the perfect solution. I put some on my yacht a year ago as a test and it is still shiny and hard although in a locker out of the sun...

You forgot to try the Dinirol hand cleaner that works a treat to get it off.

white spirit gets it off and is great for any overspray, but then you need to get that off DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I checked the condition of my ICE last weekend, the dinitrol is holding up well... (TBH since the arctic it's not seem much use)

Seeing the thread on the side steps, i'm going to pop the end caps off and spray dinitrol inside them.

I popped the rear step off to check for any corrosion where it's mounted and remembered i had sprayed dinitrol on the surfaces already.

Does anybody ever use Owatrol on the chassis rusty bits, it gets a lot of use in the boat world, paint straight on non flakey rust, leave to go tacky, paint again, job done. Dries to a hard varnish finish.

I'm also a big fan of ACF 50 and it's sister 'Corrosion Block' anywhere you can see ACF50, anywhere you can't corrosion block. A man with no boat is a prisoner

There is a 10mm drain hole on each end you can fit the spraying tool up to save taking off the ends of the steps.

I did part 1 of my dinitrol today. 2 litres of ML wax into the main chassis only and it was easier than I thought.

Was concerned that I wasn't coating it properly as I used so little but not much ran, ran a test on a bucket I had with a 1 second spray and it covered all of the inside really well. The sealey wax gun really atomises the wax well, did it in sections. Adjusted the gun so that it wasn't over delivering wax. 2 litres in about 250ml ran out Very Happy

So done with minimal mess.

Will do the bulkhead, doors, 4941 underside next weekend when I have more time.

This is my first post on Defender2.net

My new XS90 arrived last week Smile

Should I be giving her a dose of Dinitrol from new?

There are some holes on the door rubber seals - is this part of the classic Land Rover design?

Also the wire loom is exposed under the wheel arch. This is quite different from my old 2.5NA landy. Is this common on all new Tdci station wagons?
