Turned out to be a very easy fix. There are two brake switches, and one had come loose from its very flimsy mounting.
Are these the switches?

My sister's 90 lost all drive on Friday afternoon.
I suspect the usual suspect, her last adapter shaft failure was at 22,000, her 2013 90 has now done about 60K.
