United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Aintree Green
Output shaft failure, Forum Survey
For survey results of 168 vehicles, as of June 2019, go to page 9 of this thread.

Hello All Puma Defender owners, please take part in this survey in an effort to understand the extent of the problem with gearbox output shaft failure. Even if you've not had a problem, we need to know how long the 'good' ones last!

This is a survey you will get useful info from. It will be on the forum so everyone here can see the data and interpret it for their own use. Discussion on the results will be welcome.
Please answer the following 4 or 6 simple questions, and feel free to add comments.
Thanks,
Jason

1, vehicle year of manufacture
2, engine type 2.4 or 2.2
3, is the Defender still running with the original output shaft? (Y/N)
4, vehicle milage at first shaft failure, or current milage on the original shaft if still running.

If the shaft has previously failed, please answer 5 & 6.

5, Has an Ashcroft modified part has been fitted? (Y/N)
6, vehicle milage at the second failure, or milage if still running.

Repeat questions 5 & 6 for more than two shaft failures.

Daily driver, never gets pushed too hard on or off road. My clutch is rattling so when that gets replaced I will probably get an Ashcroft output shaft fitted.
