Could be a bargain for somebody that's able to collect from Wrexham:

Yes, it reduces the vertical shock loading between the trailer and the Land Rover. I got one after our first caravan - which are quite fragile anyway - fell apart.
One of the other slight advantages is that it moves the tow ball further back so that it’s easier to hitch up caravans with stabiliser hitches that have a handle that needs to be raised vertically. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Brilliant piece of kit. These days rare as hen's teeth, I have seen them go on eBay for over £500.00 in the past. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

This thread reminded me to grease it and check it over - all good. They can seize up if they aren’t kept greased or if the grease solidifies.
Yes, I agree they are brilliant bits of kit and hence why this is one of the very, very few parts being transferred over to my new 300tdi. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Interesting that one is the "commercial" variant, it's been a very long time since I saw one of those! Mind you I am not really sure of the difference, different springing and damping, perhaps?
Given that you can wait years for one to turn up, for there to be three on ebay at the same time is remarkable. |

There are different springing rates between the standard and commercial version (80kg vs 100kg nose weight recommendation) and also the method of attachment. The commercial one has a 4-bolt pattern on the back. The other one has an in-built adjustable cradle with several holes for the pins. I see that the eBay commercial one has been bolted to a cradle - but only a single pin one. The latter will rattle like crazy and probably negate some of the damping of the Shocklink.
They are very heavy things and not something you want to be taking on and off too often - something to consider. On mine I’ve used two hitch pins but also added some additional security measures to stop it disappearing - nothing drastic because if the light-fingered members of our society want it they will just unbolt the entire tow bar assembly anyway. I tow our caravan at about 95kg nose weight and my 2015 110 station wagon has the standard suspension and I experimented with and without the Shocklink. The ride quality with the Shocklink was much, much smoother with less vertical movement transferred between the 110 and the caravan - with the Shocklink you can see the caravan ‘floating’ in relation to the towing vehicle and it’s very noticeable indeed when watching the caravan in the rear view mirror. In fact it’s a little disconcerting at first! On our new 300tdi 110 that’s in the final stages of being built, i’m transferring over the Shocklink, despite being equipped with air suspension. Anything that eases the load and vibration between vehicles is worth it - especially after having had one caravan fall apart. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Does not surprise me shocklinks are now as rare as hen's teeth. Dixon Bate/Bradley does not manufacturer them anymore. In fact, the one that sold for £300.00 someone got a bargain as they regularly sell for five to six hundred. Did look a bit ropey that one though and I suppose nearly £200.00 for a rusty piece of metal is not that bad. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Is there a reason they’re not sold anymore? They seem to have such good reviews and benefits I’m worried I may not get one
