May I know what sort of fuel rail temperatures are you reading on a 2.4 (a 2.2 should be around the same) with a hot engine? I suspect I have a faulty sensor.

Have you consider a combustion leak test? As well you could use a camera and check for bubbles coming into the expansion tank.
