Someone Must Have An Answer! Manifold To Turbo Seal. 2.2TDCi
Question Could someone categorically tell me please what forms the seal between the manifold and turbo charger on the 2.2 TDCi engine, as mine is leaking exhaust gas. Nakatanenga tell me that their high strength gasket is specifically for the 2.4 TDCi engine (and older ones). Likewise I can't find anyone else, such as Bearmach, Britpart etc. stating that their gasket is for the 2.2 TDCi. Photo shows serious leak. Many thanks. Question

Yes, but I took the vehicle to a Land Rover specialist in the end - I can't quite recall what he did but can ask him tomorrow.

(A lot has happened since then - the Covid era and a new engine!)

I had a similar issue with an exhaust smell in the cab. I took it to the garage for a smoke test & they found a leak between exhaust manifold & turbo. They told me that the problem was that the gasket between manifold & turbo was missing and so they fitted one.

Now I'm googling I can only see a gasket for the 2.4 and not the 2.2 & I'm wondering if it should ever have had a gasket? Anyway this was a few years ago and it seemed to fix it.

The 2.2 WSM indicates that there is no gasket between the turbo and exhaust manifold on the 2.2.

Yes, the 2.4 needs/comes with a gasket between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. Ford p/n 1505921
