Just something i found out the last time i had to change my light switch as it had gone wrong again, these last about a year ( no relay's fitted ) they are the one's from Lucas, iv'e tried the one's in the red box and this one is from the green box, still not lasting long. So this time i tried the genuine LR one, so far so good as it should be with the price difference Rolling Eyes but on closer inspection of them side by side, it seems the genuine LR one is made much better, a couple of pics showing the difference in them. . . .

Lucas on the left and genuine on the right in both pics

sometimes you have to watch, crap been badged up as lucas stuff too. I have had a hazard switch in my old 300 fail, that was a " lucas" Bought a proper lucas one and the quality was night and day. Also these third party companies need to watch them selves, with the crap they produce. You end up buying twice. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Thumbs Up

Before I started the restoration of my 1988 90, the side/headlamp switch, which is still original from 1988 started to act up. I removed it, gave it a proper clean, and applied a bit of dielectric grease to the contacts and moving parts. Was a day night difference in the way it felt, and the lights then were coming on without the need to wiggle the switch. In your photos I see that both the genuine and the Lucas one has absolutely no grease whatsoever, and I am sure that it will affect its life.
One more point - since the whole headlamp current is going through the switch, it is a bad idea to upgrade the lights to more powerful beams, unless they are LEDs that draw less current. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

As there is allot going on this end i forgot to update Millie's thread Rolling Eyes

About 2 weeks ago she went in for her mot, she failed Sad

I couldn't get her to my indy for a pre mot check and was hoping ( fingers crossed ) that she would pass, but she did not, she failed on a split gaiter on the drop link arm and a hole in the battery box, got those done by my indy and then took her back and she passed Thumbs Up

Good for another year now Very Happy Clayton.

i am surprised she failed on a hole in the battery box, Shocked You want to get some dintrol or some POR 15 and do that battery box out after its been repaired. ( i should do this with Beatie and do the 306 under side too at. ) Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

yeah that's the trouble, mine are either in use or i am at work. I may pull the 306 off the road and get under that 1st and then do the defender, then my dads. That way me and my mam have a drive. My dads not as hardcore now in getting under cars sadly. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

It does have it's advantages when having two vehicles as you said that one can be fixed and the other used until the other one is back on the road Thumbs Up Clayton.

On Monday the 21st Millie needed a taxi back to my indy Sad
This is Millie being unloaded Very Happy

You could only push the clutch pedal in about halfway and then it would come to a stop, i heard a clonk in the bell housing, so i made the decision she will need a taxi back to the indy Very Happy

My indy worked his magic on Millie and i went and picked her up first thing Friday morning Very Happy Very Happy

It turned out to be a missing bit of metal as in the pic below

She was meant to go into my indy on the following Saturday for another 6,000 miles service but obviously she wanted it earlier Laughing
All good now and the clutch is even easier than before Thumbs Up Clayton.
