So it seems i'm getting like Co1 Laughing

As much as i liked the Blindo's i just thought they still looked to fancy for Millie as i kept seeing pic's of her with the modular's on, so i have been running her with the modular's back on to see if i was right

I do think that Millie suits them being a utility landy, so i went ahead and got some new ones and on Saturday morning i went to my local ATS to get them changed over

The old modular's will be getting refurbed, shot blasted and then powder coated.

I'm well happy with the end result Very Happy

So carrying on from these pics, the new rims only lasted about a week or two, no green laning was done with these on. As they were ET+8 i thought they would be okay but they were not as they were catching under the rear wheel arch, when she was loaded up, so they came off and put all 5 back in there boxes, still like new and i have put the old ones back on as in the beginning pics. So it has to be 16x7 ET0.
I'm narrowing down now Laughing 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Just to update on Millie's mileage . . . . .

Original engine was on 381,000 miles when she aqua locked Rolling Eyes

The replacement engine came out of a D1 which had a verified 165,000 miles on and she is nearly going to turn over to 448,000 miles. That means that this engine has done 67,000 miles with me and a total of 232,000 miles and is going very well Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

As you know in the previous pages i had a problem with the fuel injection pump, so that went away to be reconditioned and upgraded at the same time, so when i got it back and fitted by my indy i was very very disappointed with the outcome as it seemed that they had made it worse. So back on the phone to them and in the end i had to take it off and take it to them to see if there was anything wrong ( as if they were going to say anything if there was Rolling Eyes ) after a lengthy " discussion " with them they said they would put it back to standard form, i went and got the fuel injection pump and my indy put it on, it was better but still not as good as when it went first off Rolling Eyes they did refund me the difference though, a bit of a result after all the hassle i've had with them Evil or Very Mad
So onward to about November / December last year and i noticed the loss of power, so starts the hunt for the loss. As a start i changed the fuel pump, helped a bit and then changed all 4 injectors for new original ones, that helped a bit more. There was one thing left, yes that Censored fuel injection pump again Evil or Very Mad
My indy recommended me someone who reconditions them so on the way home from work one day i went into see them, i got my old injectors tested with them and he said that they were good as spare ones, not bad for the original ones doing about 435,000 miles.
Once the new year had come i went and got one of my spare fuel injection pumps reconditioned and uprated by them, he said they like to have a 3 - 4 day turn around, once i had got it back and fitted by my indy, well what a difference, talk about chalk n cheese, i'm super happy the way she goes, pulls really well and she just keeps pulling up the hills, i'm not often out of 5th gear now Mr. Green 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

That's a good result. Some things just seem to be harder than they need to be, and getting the result you want takes an uneccesary amount of time. Given that none of us have too much time these days, it's just a Pita!

Glad you got there though, and that it gives you a chance to take a 'Defender breather' and just enjoy a spell when things are going well. Donald

Thanks Donald Thumbs Up

It's just one of those things where you know that it's going to take longer than it should and you just keep plodding on to be pleasantly surprised when you have found the answer Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Thumbs Up That's undoubtedly the best way to look at it - I only wish I could achieve that Zen state more often! My West Coast of Scotland DNA usually ends up with 'toys out of pram' scenarios a bit too soon! Donald
