Checked the temps
Expansion tank is running about 60c and the pipes at the heater are about 50c

I remember a recall on this issue dealing with the tubes.
Only driver's seat concerned (for RHD vehicles)

I think it will be this as stated in earlier post
"there is a cable that goes to the heater control valve (plastic on bulkhead) and at least 1 if not two that go to the heater box itself. It might be that one or more of these are not fully opening or closing what they are meant to. This is a common thing on earlier Defenders, every now and again you have to re-adjust the wire within the lever fixing on the heater box to make sure the flap inside is actually closing properly"

They only last few years before they fail - mine gave in after 6 years my mates the same, same part as used on a fiat and a few others e.g
Cabin heater control valve (Fiat Part 77363342) I paid £23.50 for mine when I bought it
Easy to change just be careful of the little metal cable retaining clip, LR part comes with it other makes dont and the little clip was a pain to find on line if you break the original:
- JYC500070 - heater control cable clip located at heater valve and air con unit
